I'm not sure why you were downvoted. I mean, it sucks when any game is pulled from the marketplace due to licensing issues, but I really don't see a lot of people regretting that they never downloaded this once it's pulled from the marketplace.

Good game, though I wish it was based on the SNES version.

The original arcade version was also bundled in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: Mutant Nightmare for the PS2 as well. The PS2 game is a chore to play, but getting that unlockable is worth it. It's also cheaper than this half-shell of a remake.

@Dance Mofo I agree. I bought this game on XBLA and I never even finished the first level. Would have been so much better if they would have just done like Capcom did with Super Street Fighter 2 HD Remix. Original game-play with redrawn sprites would have been awesome.

I was under the impression that is exactly what this was. I don't recall the arcade game looking like that.

It's not, and it did. This is definitely based off of the arcade version of Turtles in Time.

They had to redo the graphics, since someone else owned
the rights to the original sprite-based version. I don't get why
more than one person/group owned the rights to different
parts of the same game.

As long as other people have them you can buy them second hand. Digital versions can't be resold or passed on to other people.

@Shogan Digital games never get under-produced and end up on ebay for 100 bucks 10 years after release. The only time digital games get pulled is if they lose a license or some other oddball thing. It's not like digital releases are disappearing on a daily basis in mass numbers.

Youre one of the people that got mad when Double Dragon was pulled, aren't ya?

Really?

http://cgi.ebay.com/Final-Fantasy-VII-7-PS1-BRAND-NEW-MISPRINT-BLACK-LABEL-/130416357346?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item1e5d6bafe2#ht_556wt_911

So FF7 physical disc = $344.95, vs digital download of $10 - Which can be shared on up to 5 devices. So 5 friends can throw down $2 a piece and own FF7. Vs $344.95 for one copy. Digital Download > Physical here.

Tales of Vesparia... You mean the game that was £40 before it was available on XBL, and then dropped to £30.

Sweet jesus christ how will I ever afford that £10? I'm going to have to sell a kidney to pay for that because £40 is an insanely steep price for anything to cost!!!

Digital delivery at the scale we're seeing today isn't that old yet. This is only the beginning. Just you wait.

@Punkrawk Bbob:

.....Riiiiiight. If you'd just told people to do a search for "Final Fantasy VII" on Ebay, it wouldn't have painted quite such a favorable picture for your argument, huh?

A local shop of mine consistently sells FF7 for less than it was when it was first released.

It's not hard to tell which games will be rare in the future. Obviously, you're not going to find any trouble finding a copy of LA Noire, Bioshock Infinite, Skyrim, or Uncharted 3 a decade from their releaase.

But Catherine? Radiant Historia? Dragon's Crown? Okamiden? Yeah, probably not going to see those in retail space for long.

Heh, actually I just pulled the first listing. I just enjoyed the fact that it was probably one of the most expensive, but also supported my point.

@ Tihn

ToV isn't available on the US XBL marketplace, is it over in EU? You guys have also had a strong support for Tales games over there though. In the US, NTSC version hasn't been produced since 2008 which makes it a pain in the ass to find for a decent price that isn't used and scratched to shit. Which sucks because I have not gotten to play it, and unless I want to pay a pretty penny I never will.

I do have an xbox, but honestly haven't looked at Games on Demand in a long time now. Glad it's up there, I'll be grabbing it. +2 points for digital distribution.

Anyways, another point of retail isn't forever - Suikoden 2. Good luck finding that new or used for anything less than a c-note.

@buster42 Most likely not. TMNT was sold last year to Nick and likely there are new licensing agreements in place. The first game just happens to not be available on the PSN. I wish MS was more up front about this. If so I would have gotten Root Beer Tapper before it was delisted.

They need to make a classic Arcade TMNT again with genuine 2D graphics. From NES to Arcade sprites makes little difference.

And oh yeah, make it fun and leave out the modern edgy "tude". It's lame now and it's lame by even 90s standards, which obviously was about being awesome and radical!

I'm don't want to have re-buy my entire movie collection every time a new physical format is released - VHS -> DVD -> Blu-Ray -> what's next?!

I wish I could license movies digitally and then pay a small charge if I want to be sent a physical copy on the latest storage media.
