Uncharted 3 multiplayer beta details leap from Naughty Dog HQ to your eye sockets

You already read a mess of information about Uncharted 3's upcoming multiplayer beta back before E3, but now developer Naughty Dog wants to show it off in a slurry of walkthrough videos (which we've dropped after the break). The studio also revealed a variety of details about the beta, breaking down which gametypes and maps will be paired across the beta's three weeks -- it'll take up approximately 1.7GB of your precious HDD space.

Additionally, ND says that the beta will allow for stereoscopic 3D, as well as split-screen co-op (though not both simultaneously, of course). As the beta goes live tomorrow for PlayStation Plus subscribers (that's still most of us!) and inFamous 2 owners, you may be wondering when you'll be murdering Drake with ... uh ... other Drakes -- unfortunately, the studio isn't sure just yet, but suggests keeping an eye on the official Naughty Dog Twitter account for up-to-the-minute info. Studio head Evan Wells also notes on his Twitter feed that the beta "should be on PSN around 2PM PDT tomorrow." He additionally points out that "Naughty Dog doesn't control this," making 2PM PDT somewhat tentative.

Uncharted is one of those franchises that makes me wish I had a PS3.

Well, there are some awesome deals out there, Amazon is selling PS3 bundle with Call of Duty Black Ops for $299 and offering $50 credit.

I just bought it, will sell Black Ops on eBay, use $50 to get few nice PS3 games, you could use it for getting Uncharted 1 & 2 bundle for $39.99 or pre-order Uncharted 3 for $9.99 more.

Enjoy. I can't wait to see how the game runs in 3D.

Heavy Rain was the reason I bought my mate's unwanted slim off him (so he could hunt down a phat, his original YLOD'd).. but now Uncharted 3 will be the main reason I'll turn it back on for more than checking the store.. It'll be for the campaign though (hopefully it's just the play 1 MP game trophies again so I can get my platinum.. a kid chewing his controller can beat me at MP)

1.77 gigs? It'll take you the whole 3 weeks to patch the store, download it, install it, patch the system, download an update and finally get the thing running. By then your controller will be dead and you'll have to wait for it to charge.

This joke was funny before one of the updates made downloads faster. Also, it's always dependent on your connection speed.

So excited for this. In comparison to the Gears style multiplayer I much prefer Uncharted 2 though Gears 3's horde mode looks insane. Hopefully there are some pretty crazy things in the Uncharted 3 multiplayer that they haven't announced yet.

@sammo21 yeah, and it was pretty good. Though in comparing gears 3 and uncharted 3, Gears' Horde mode looks insane. For basic combat and feel I still think I will like uncharted more if its the same difference as uncharted 2 mp vs gears 2 mp.

I can't wait for this game to come out. This series is a GREAT example of how multi-player can be added (wonderfully I might add) to an already excellent single player experience

I have a PS3 but even with the auto-aim built into modern console games analog sticks suck for aiming in FPSes. Too bad, I bet Uncharted is an alright game.

@Marshillboy well you're in luck... uncharted is not an FPS so there ya go :) but I must say I disagree fully, duel sticks work well for first person as well as third person shooters.

First of all, Its NOT Auto-Aim, Its aim assist. It just slows slightly near targets. And console games are easily playable without aim assist. Some games let you turn it off, And its easy to get used to. Analog sticks are much better for movement than a keyboard too.

I am not a big online multiplayer but I loved Uncharted 2 online. It was simple and casual and the enhancements given to hard core players weren't that big of an advantage.

Only thing I didn't like is that it takes too long to get started and the downtime between maps. I just want to pop in and keep going until I want to stop.

@marshillboy, uncharted is not a fps it's a third person shooter, and everyone else has the same aiming as you so what's the big deal? Anyways too bad because you are missing out on one of the all time best games I've played and that's going back more than 20 years.

Just because of that first Video i am going to listen to Dub-Step all the time while i play this game's Multiplayer :)

Super excited, especially since I just got a 3D tv. Not bragging, but it's totally worth it as a gamer, especially if you have a ps3 (plus, most high end tv's today have 3D anyway)

I wish the beta was a month later or so. Starting tomorrow I'm going on vacation with my girlfriend for a week, staying home for half a week, and then going on vacation with my family for another week so I'm going to be missing most of the beta time :(

It's crazy how sophisticated this game looks. I play U2 MP all the time, but this looks several steps further along on gameplay.

I wasn't big into UC2 multiplayer but this looks really really good.

Im doing nothing but rockin this Beta tomorrow... too bad its supposed to drop @ 2PM PDT ...which means 5pm East Coast time... i thought id be on it ,ALONE, and bright and early in the morning...Now i gotta wait till the time where everyone gets off of work :(

Mainly playing this for single player, but I enjoyed the MP of uncharted 2 for a few days so I'm sure I'll enjoy this briefly.

10PM or later in the UK. Fairly annoying as I have work the next morning.

Still, I really can't wait. Even though I haven't played a great deal of the multiplayer (I started the multiplayer a few days before the downage). Uncharted 2 is the game that ended 10 years of me hating Sony for no reason (other than fanboyism).

@Cube I still hate Sony, but I love me some Uncharted. Very excited for the beta!

@Meganinja Yes and you can log in to 2 psn names at the same time, similar to black ops on the Xbox, something Trey Arch said couldn't be done on the PS3, boom!
