Good deal for Novarama & Sony. This is still an emerging genre and having Novarama as an exclusive developer will ensure Sony a strong presence in AR genre for years to come. Being backed by a major publisher like Sony will give Novarama more resources and allow them to make better games. This is a win / win for everyone involved.

Agreed to all three of you. This is why I'm a PS fanboy. Sony always gets the most talented studios as partners, which means we always get the best and most original and exciting exclusives.

This gen? ModNation Racers, Heavy Rain, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Motorstorm, White Knight Chronicles, Eye of Judgement, Lair, Demon's Souls, Resistance, MAG. I guess you don't count the return of franchises like Ratchet, Killzone, Gran Turismo, Wipeout, Metal Gear, Buzz and the upcoming Sly, Twisted Metal and Team Ico's game (which can count as a new IP) or the Move games. Of course, if you go to indy/small games, again there's a vast plethora of original games available. Plus for upcoming titles there is Starhawk, the continuation of current gen franchises like Resistance and Uncharted and the, to some extend, shared library of Vita games.

So why is it that Sony buys exclusives all the time but only Microsoft gets flack for it?

@A Sandwich
if MS is getting flak for anything, it's for not buying enough studios. seems like they basically gave up on releasing exciting new exclusives.

I mean I guess kinect games are exclusive, but I don't think the majority here cares about those types of games

I think it's because Microsoft seems to buy exclusivity from things that are expected to be multi-platform otherwise. On the other hand, Sony funds developers and projects that might not even exist without them, and they pick up exclusives that way. So the feeling is more like Microsoft is stealing other people's stuff, and Sony is making its own things.

@A Sandwich I think its because Ms only does time exclusives which no one likes.

If you have a PSV handy, maybe you'll be able to see AR turd burglars comin' at ya in the comfort of your own bathroom. Shart lightly, friend, lightly.

This is great for Sony. Sony buying all these first party studios and having their current lineup for first party studios shows how committed they are to remain in the industry, the lack of first party studios from Microsoft shows that they are probably ready to bail from the console market if the wind changes just a bit that counters their strategy. I am glad to be a PS3 owner, if I were a Xbox owner I would be pretty nervous.

@JRPGliving haha really? Nervous? Why, Sony still doesn't have the install base and mindshare. Just enjoy owing just a PS3. MS kicks Sony's ass for 3/4 years now and now they shoudl worry.

Really at this point everyone should own all 3. There is reason for all of them.

@kcswanko Actually the ps3's marketshare is fairly decent these days, only a few million behind Ms's.

@kcswanko

The mindshare? Did you see the reaction across the internet when PSN went down? It seemed that every other user on a message board was disappointed that PSN went down. That indicates a couple of things.

1. Microsoft has severely overstated their Live base, many of those PSN users are ex Xbox Live users who refuse to pay for P2P.

2. Even though the 360 has sold more consoles in the U.S. I bet you there are for more active PS3's than there are 360's.

The Playstation brand is still pound for the pound the strongest in the world, and you know and I know that the Xbox division have their hands tied from corporate because you know if Microsoft had complete trust in the Xbox brand the entertainment division would have more first pary acquisitions under their belt since Microsoft has very deep pockets. Face it the Xbox brand is one bone headed move away from leaving the console market.

I'd make some MS Fanboy troll right now but really I don't care. These AR games lose my interests after a couple minutes.
