Dead Rising 2: Off the Record goes on sale Oct. 11 in NA, Oct. 14 in EU

Capcom apparently doesn't want us or anyone else knowing the launch date for upcoming Dead Rising budget spinoff, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record. Though the Japanese publisher's European blog posted details of the game's release date recently -- October 11 in North America and October 14 in Europe, by the way -- the post has since been pulled. Thankfully, some quick Googling reveals that the post did in fact exist at one point.
It's always possible that the release dates were incorrect, but we're more inclined to believe it was simply posted before someone important said, "Go ahead." We've asked Capcom for confirmation, but haven't heard back as of yet.

that's a long time to wait for a game that I already played. I can't believe I'm getting it. I'm part of the problem!

What problem? I'm going to buy this, too, I see absolutely no problems with it.
As if every other video game sequel didn't copy-paste things? Give me a break. People will complain about anything and everything, pay them no mind and do what's right by you.

Just when I was about to boycott CAPCOM for their lousy costume DLC for SSF IV and the MERCENARIES fiasco on the 3DS... this hits the news.

@XRZ36 Megaman? Super Street Fighter 2 (Turbo) (Remix)?
They've been doing this since they got started, and yet people still go out and buy the re-release expecting something new? Why not just be happy with the original version? You don't need to own them all. No one is forcing you to buy any of them.
Meanwhile Capcom keeps it real with their pricing and is credited with some of the best games on the market.
Joystiq readers complain about anything. Anyone trying to make a profit is considered evil and greedy. It's a juvenile, immature, and to anyone who works for a living, extremely ignorant.

But I don't see how this is the same thing as SSF4's costumes? You're not entitled to them. It just something the devs have put out to make some extra bucks. If you like em', buy em'. If you don't move on.

What was wrong with MvC3? Or are you one of those people who just hates all Capcom fighters post-3rd Strike.

Apparently people have much more fun complaining about games than actually playing them.

This is basically capcom admitting that "We made Dead Rising 2, it had a character in it that nobody cared about" so now we've made the exact same game and slapped in a character that nearly everyone cares about."

I'm a huge fan of Frank West, but Chuck Greene wasn't a bad character. It was an interesting perspective. I just wish DR2 would have had more unlockables, or at least a separate campaign with Frank West. Also, DR2's ending left a lot to be desired. It just.... ended.

There is some extra content, but the exact scale of how much content is "new" and how much content is "the same" or "tweaked" has yet to be finalized. Capcom likes to spin it like it's a whole new game, reality will likely take a more moderate ratio at retail. Wait and see.

I'm not sure this idea will be popular, but I would go for it...
I think Capcom should take a clue from Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, which sold a lot, and continue that formula. Release a game like Case Zero for around $20. Then add "expansions" for that game for around $5 each. It could take the character from city to city across the country (with each city being an expansion pack). Each pack would allow a level up of 5 levels up to the 50 level limit. This would keep the money flowing for a long time and would allow people to experience the game without having to pay a full $60.

I thought Case: Zero was appropriately priced at $10, it just needed to be on multiple platforms. Also, I don't agree with the expansions, Capcom does that wayyyyy too much already. They should just take more time on development and create a complete game experience with all of their games, with replayability and twists on gameplay (mini-games and such). I'd rather have one whole product than a better edition of the same game next year.

I liked Dead Rising 2, but the thought of playing through a re-skinned version of the game doesn't sound too appealing.

I dont mind buying this as its a francise i like, (and play the crap put of). But theres no way i would want to be a fan of Street Fighter at the moment after whats been done with 4.

When I was a kid it didn't matter if your friend had Street Fighter 2 Turbo and you had Street Fighter 2, it just meant your game didn't have the turbo mode.
No one got together and boycotted over it, in fact, I don't even recall anyone caring at all. We were more concerned with Nintendo censoring the blood.
