Crysis was a beautiful game, but flawed. Plus the multiple powers may not work well with a 360 controller. I'm a bit apprehensive.

@ShokLoc the 360 controller works fine with crysis. The game already supports it on PC.

@WonderWeazel I know it supported a 360 controller, have you tried it? I just think that it might slow down the power switching some. In Crysis 2, they could just map armor and stealth to bumpers, but switching between stealth, armor, speed and power could be tough. I like Crysis, but IDK if it'll make a good console game.

On a side not, I wonder if they'd add warhead and/or wars?

It can be done, they just need to use a similar system to the one used in Shadowrun. You can either map abilities to the bumpers or use a quick-cast system (Hold B to open a Radial Menu and select using the left thumb stick)

God I miss ShadowRun soooo much

The default Xbox 360 controller setup for Crysis Wars made the game extremely simple (much better than Crysis 2's), and you were allowed to completely customize the controls on all 3 Crysis games on the PC. RB opens up the suit wheel, and you use the right stick to select a power. Once you've played the game enough, you can select any power you want from the wheel in less than a quarter of second without even thinking.

Why Crytek decided to dumb down the game just for the controllers, I have no idea. It was so simple to begin with and a far better game with the wheel. Even if you decided to use a controller.

This is actually a rating for the Korean crying sister simulator "Cry, Sis!" where you feed your little sister candy to stop her from crying.

Step 1) Bring Crysis 1 over into the Crysis 2 engine.
Step 2) Profit
Step 3) ???
Step 4) Make Crysis 3 as good as Crysis 1

@NewEraBlood

I really hate when people say this. Crysis 1 wasn't good only for it's graphics, it also had a pretty cinematic storyline that wasn't half bad, and some really great gameplay. It was very open-ended and felt like a sandbox style game, there were vastly different ways one could approach a situation making it a really great game to play again and again, it's only downfall was that once the aliens got involved, it became extremely linear, like crysis 2, but that's where some of the really nice mods come in.

The problem is just that everyone wanted to play the game on "Ultra high" settings, no one wanted to settle for low, and you can't blame em, it looked terrible on low. I think if they would have added in "Pre baked" lighting and shadows, more people would have have no problems playing it on low but it was either full real time lighting, or "full bright" aka no texture shading on surfaces.

Also if they're going to put this onto consoles, I think they'll have a hell of a job ahead of them. It'll have to be scaled back A LOT. One of the main reasons for the poor performance people had with this game was NOT due to poor coding, but rather the sheer scale of the landscape and everything that was rendered. At times, Crysis 1 displayed over 5 million polygons on screen each frame, albeit on ultra high. On average an Xbox360 game displays less than 1/10th of these numbers per frame if not much less.

Nope it wasn't just you. It's a fact that Crysis 2 isn't as good as 1, unless you like linear games dull games, like DNF and FF13.

Doesn't that seem a little early to quit? I mean you don't even get all the powers until level 4 or 5 I think.

@whylekat I'm just depressed because of how lackluster it is to its predecessor.

I feel that Crysis 2 compares to Crysis 1 like Devil May Cry 2 did to 1.

My friend and I enjoyed Crysis 1 immensely, but neither of us could bear enduring past the first 10 minutes of 2. I'm glad to see it wasn't just us.

Your comment describes one of the many problems of Crysis 2 compared to 1. In Crysis 1, you start with ALL your powers, and the game doesn't treat you like an idiot by forcing you to stop and learn the power. I could go on about the many other issues in Crysis 2, but I just wanted to address the irony of your comment.

I don't know about other people, but I like to be given many abilities from the beginning and the freedom to learn and experiment with them at my own pace. I loathe "progression" that is nothing more than stripping you of basic abilities. I can only forgive this in games like Metroid, because the level design requires it.

Wonder how much of a difference their will be with consoles lacking the Number 1 this Game Needs, a decent amount of ram!

So I'm thinking a super low amount of DOF with a stream loading process. That way, gamers won't have to sit through a loading screen every 3 minutes.

Or maybe both...stream and loading screens.

Lower Resolution Textures, Lower Frames, and a lesser amount of true physics is an obvious downgrade.

They might also remove the last level in the game and add something different. The last level REQUIRES LOADS OF POWER!!

@xiLeShadow Hopefully they use CryEngine 2.1 (WARHEAD and Wars) instead of just CryEngine 2. The performance is much better with CE2.1.

Unless they decide to... mmm... port it to CE3.

Now I'm ticked off indirectly. I thought because console gamers would have never played Crysis, that's why Crytek changed the story entirely in the sequel, not having it take place right after 1. But now that they may get the game, they should have just placed 2 directly after 1 with all the characters, same setting, etc.

@nerdydesi1

I suspect bringing the first game to consoles is tied directly to Crysis 2's sales failing to meet both Crytek and EA's expectations; while 2-3 million copies in three months is certainly nothing to turn one's nose at, it's pretty disappointing for a heavily advertised and anticipated multiplatform title especially when one considers less than stellar games perform better in a fraction of the time. Since Crysis has been turning a profit shortly after its release four years ago, the actually cost of porting it over to the 360 and PS3 is going to be extremely negligible even if Crytek decides to upgrade the game to Cryengine3 (if using Sandbox 3 is anything to go by, they'll literally just be moving Crysis assets over into the new Sandbox editor). Basically, it's a super easy and relatively risk free way of making a decent amount of money to fill their coffers; they'd be stupid NOT to do it.

I wonder how the consoles will handle the "Onslaught" level? Also the final battle on the aircraft carrier? That had even powerful gaming rigs weep.

Same way Halo, Resistance, Killzone and every other shooter handled it :/

I see nothing in Crysis that can't be achieved on the consoles, a lot less pretty yes, but it shouldn't be as much a loss as people might make out, not since they have the Cryengine mastered.

yeah, but just like with BF3 I'm interested to see what the console release will need to sacrifice or cut to make the transition. for battlefield 3 this translates to smaller map sizes and lower player counts in MP. I wonder what modifications to Crysis 1, as Im sure they will want to preserve the experience as much as possible. My guess is they will shrink down and retool the levels.

I hope the PC can get a console exclusive in return. Us getting L.A. Noire for The Witcher 2 is acceptable, hope we can get another game also! Its just not fair when the PC keeps losing exclusives to consoles but doesn't gain content in return. : /
