Neverhood may be headed to mobile platforms

You may remember The Neverhood as the lovely, claymation adventure game with one of the best soundtracks of all time. But there's an equally large chance that you don't remember The Neverhood at all, as the PC game was released way back in 1996 and has been dormant since.
Developer Bazinga Studios says it would like to change that and bring the game to mobile platforms. The company tells us it's currently negotiating the licensing contract, but can't say any more for the moment.

Personally, we couldn't be more excited to take another trip to The Neverhood, but we're not quite sure how common that is. You know what this calls for! A poll.

Hell yeah I remember the game. I never got very far but it was fun for a bit.

Can they speed up his walking? That was the absolute worst part of the game

I never played Neverhood but I loved the sequel on the PS1, Skullmonkeys. The cut scenes were my favorite part! He melts a guys face with a fart cloud!

Not trying to diminish your opinion at all, but I couldn't even play the sequel. It was crap compared to the first one. Just too different. Imagine if they made a Full Throttle sequel and made it a third person action game. Oh...they almost did that.

Anyway, maybe somebody who didn't have the baggage of being in love with the original could have given it a fair shake.

I've neverhood of it....

This game is amazing. An essential part of my childhood.

I liked this when I was a kid. There was a tree you could eat from and it would make the character burp, incrementing in length with the number of fruits eaten.
And I tested if I could finish a pee-pee before his long burp ended. And I could!

Awesome and lame at the same time! The Neverhood games were great, have spent hundreds of happy hours going back and re-playing.

But i can guarantee they will pull some 'HD' bullcrap or make some lame spin-offs, it's apparently impossible to bring back a forgotten game franchise without destroying it.

I love these kind of games, flashback, another world, oddworld, I always rented neverhood on the PS1, klaymen is the best action star ever!

This is seriously my first video game memory. I would love it if they could bring it back.

I would love to play this game again! I still have my copy but the disk is badly scratched up. The music was wonderful. Terry S. Taylor captured the feel perfectly.

Holy hell yes!!!!! I have been trying to remember the name if this game for years, and as soon as I saw the image above I screamed like a little girl. A thousand times yes!

I hope by "mobile platforms" they mean tablets rather than phones.

I only remember the ps1 title Skullmonkeys but damn i loved it

If you can't be bothered to at least play this game, which is completely amazing if you don't count the mind-numbing 40-screen hallway slog (you KNOW what I mean if you've played it), you should at the very least listen to its absolutely hysterical soundtrack.

It's not mindnumbing if you read the story on the wall. :P

A valid point, though I started it over multiple times (lost my saves on several occasions back in the day) and couldn't be bothered to read it THAT many times. :)

What a surprise to read on Joystiq. I remember a demo of this from when I was very young, and just recently dug it back up again. Totally on board for this one.

43% of Joystiq readers have played The Neverhood? No way. I guess the people who didn't mostly skipped over this story. Or lied.

Still, wonderful game.

I still hum/whistle the songs periodically. The best being the whistling tune that plays while riding around on the wall tracks.

One of my favorite games ever. I still have my original disc. Played it at about 14 and I never forgot it. That and Grim Fandango will live with me forever.

This, Monkey Island, and Grim Fandango were my quintessential adventure game favorites in my pre-teen days. Neverhood was a very short game, but it had such great style and humor that I enjoyed playing it again and again. I would relish the opportunity to revisit it today.

Oh hell yes! Every part of this game is amazing, I still have the original CD and even installed it on my work computer lol. I can't wait to replay it on whatever platform they go with.

Loved this game sooo much. I actually played through it a little over a year ago. Hope this pops up on WP7 platforms, I'd love to snag some Neverhood achievements!

Skullmonkeys was my first PS1 game as it came with the console. I loved that game and still sing the bonus level song regularly! Never played The Neverhood though, was it really that much better?
