Team Meat's McMillen working on new game, The Binding of Isaac
16
Edmund McMillen, one half of Team Meat (the dev duo behind Super Meat Boy), has been working on a secret undertaking called The Binding of Isaac. The side project, which has nothing to do with Team Meat's next "feature length" project, finds McMillen working with programmer Florian Himsl (Coil, Triachnid, C word), and a score by Danny Baranowsky (Canabalt, Super Meat Boy, Cave Story 3D).
McMillen plans to reveal release date and platforms when the title is finished in about a month. The only hints we get for now are, "It's a play on my favorite game of all time," and that it's a roguelike. He hopes to share more information next week.

Team Meat, I will always support you, and I trust in you as I trust in the morning sun.
I.... I love you.

Plus it's a roguelike with a sense of humor and appealing art?
I guess all those letters to Santa and Jesus finally paid off!

So from what we can infer from the picture, The Binding of Issac will involve binding Issac in shackles for the murder of his overweight mother.
What "favorite game of all time" is *that* based on?

Sweet! I just finally finished the Light World of SMB a week or so ago. I had been trying to do the Light and Dark worlds at the same time when it first came out, but eventually burned myself out. When I picked it back up, I just had to accept that I will never be good enough to unlock and play all the dark worlds.

Was disappointed with Super Meat Boy. Too simple, too frustrating. No doubt someone will say 'wel lernz to be better at gam then, newb?' I think your mastery of video games says more about you than me.
The cutscenes were literally no better than an average Flash animation, and weren't funny. I don't subscribe to the Family Guy theory of comedy that all you need to do is to replace the characters from an existing IP with your own and it will be hilarious. It's only funny if your mind isn't developed properly. I bet your favourite movie is Star Wars and you have a replica lightsabre within sight without even having to turn your head.

SMB isn't for everyone so if you don't subscribe to the hard games category no it wouldn't be for you. The cutscenes however were brilliant since the whole thing was a spoof game in general they recreated scenes from a lot of the harder games from the past. They were playing off nostalgia on these so if you didn't have that tie to the original game you wouldn't appreciate it. But mechanically the game is phenomenal and controls like a dream. You don't die from the controls it's user error. To be honest Light World wasn't all that difficult. If you don't try for bandages/A+/Dark World it's pretty easy to get through.

I only have a replica Narsil (from Lord of the Rings) in sight. Does that count?
