Ahead of the San Diego Comic-Con, Dark Horse has announced that all of its digital Mass Effect comics are free for 24 hours, starting at 3PM EST today. In addition to the free comics, Dark Horse is also offering a seven-page preview of its next Mass Effect series, Invasion.
The comics are available via the Dark Horse online store or the Dark Horse app on iPad and iPhone. And, again, they're only free today, so you'd best get your mass in gear.

In going to the site, and even how this article is worded, it appear you cant purchase them for free to save/own...but only view them in their entirety for free. So basically you get to read them all today but not keep them.

@Mcmax3000 - You could right click and save every individual page I guess.
If you can load any pages. I can't.

Good luck to anyone that tries to take advantage of this. Getting them was quite the pain as their site is just getting slammed right now.

Seeing the same thing here, on the iPad app as well. Might have to try back late tonight / early a.m. tomorrow.

@Chief Oddball - Login on the iPad app (login option is under browse for some stupid reason) and then go to the free section. That's the quickest & easiest way to find them on there.
I was never able to find the second one in the store (which was the one I wanted because I have the first one in book form).

It would be great if the web page was working.

I already had them all. Some thrice. I have Redemption 1-4 in app form (iPhone), in the Dark Horse app (iPad) and in a hard-copy trade. Surprisingly, the digital versions are easier to read if your not into comics generally. I got Evolution 1-4 in the Dark Horse app too.
Great comics. Essential for all fans. Art is beautiful too.

Oh, good. I read the first one at some point(was it free or did it come with something? I can't remember now) and was sorely disappointed in it. Now I can see if the entire series followed suit without any consequences, other than a smidgen of time.

Ugh...the website isn't working so I won't be able to get them today which is a bummer because I really liked the books they came out with. I'll get these eventually...

The Dark Horse iPad app keeps hanging up and crashing. I actually had to manually shut off the device to get out of the app. At least my physical copy of Redemption doesn't do such nonsense.

As others have said, connecting and downloading through the iPad app seems to be pretty broken right now, for anything.

Still down, hopefully they'll extend it or something. Not a big deal if they don't, but it couldn't hurt.

If there was ever a time where torrenting something is valid, this might be one of them. They want us to download it for free, but only if we're here today. We're here today and their method of giving it to us for free isn't working.
Am I wrong that this is a little less morally gray than it usually is?

would love to take a look, but their site is as responsive as a dead cat.

Guh. Okay.
Go through a slow as hell site that is not designed for any amount of high traffic. Then make an account. Then not even get a reasonable way of downloading them.
Yes, I appreciate the offer. And I will read these. But this is one of those select few times where pirating is just the best solution.

I appreciate a company making their comics free for a day.
But having to create yet another account, to view them? No thanks.
Plus, those 24 hours are going to be counted in all the downtime where very few people are going to be able to access them.
