I think Modern Warfare is going to end up like the Spider-Man movies or the X-Men movies. I just enjoy the first two, and pretend like the third one doesn't exist.

@copa the last two xmen films (wolverine and first class were pretty good imo...) Amazing Spiderman loos like it has promise... Both franchises have suffered due to terrible actions by the studios in charge and their stupid meddling... They learn nothing from spielburg, jackson, lucas... Meddling only makes the film worse...

This will probably get a lot of COD hate but if people are into it, that's good for them. No different that paying money to go to E3, PAX, Blizzardfest, or ComicCon. I am kinda jealous because I have never loved a hobby so much I would want to go to a convention about it.

Thank you! Someone else who approaches this objectively! Just because you hate something doesn't that everyone else should. Let people enjoy what they like. If you don't like it, don't go.

The only problem with your comparison is that all the events you listed are worthwhile.

The problem with your statement is that worth is subjective.

No. There won't be a Prestige Edition.

Also, EA just announced that they no longer like making money.

What?!?!

It's worth what people are willing to pay and at $75 a day and considering how popular the COD series is, I'm thinking this is way cheap.

I'm not even that into the series and I think $150 to play on a real life version of a COD map is worth it!

The event sounds amazing but that price is absurd. This is supposed to be for the fans but at those prices they are basically making it to where a good portion of their fans won't be able to attend.

Well, there's a good amount of CoD fans that don't play other games, at all. So paying 150 bucks to go to a convention of the only game they play doesn't seem that expensive.

Just adding my 2 cents, the CoD franchise is not deep enough to even warrant having its own convention. What's to be expected, shallow forums on which weapons works even shittier then it's real counter part? Booths selling CoD memorabilia?

I've actually had hours long talks about how to approach a map for strategy, and even discussions on perks, what goes well together, and I can put a lot of thought into how I approach a map with the different loadouts that I use.

I mean, most people would look at my custom classes in BLOPS and think there isn't much going on, but there is. Trust me, the difference between my AK-47 class and my Galil class is quite big, despite the guns being very similar in the game.

Of course, WILL they in fact have in depth discussion about tactics and/or strategy in this game? Most likely not...

Without sounding like a rebuttal, i'll agree with you, since i too and even to this day have brief discussions on what you have mentioned. Problem is, for anyone thats even remotely familiar with firearms all, the talk and game play become this nasty love hate marriage.

Personally I don't entertain the the wonky game mechanics found in CoD games anymore. The focus should be less on perks and more on a more realistic approach to our game experience.

I can shoot through a thick rock wall and drop an enemy, but place the same enemy behind a chain link fence and he has a better chance of living. Finally, my long time personal rant of "why is there no fire rate selection" in game? Are all M-16s a 3 round burst rifle? I could go on and on but $150 is a bit steep to run CoDs hamster wheel to me.

So what do you get for the 150 bucks besides admission? In-game upgrades? Avatar items? Anything except the knowledge you are walking around a convention center with thousands of other suckers whose wallets are 150 dollars lighter? Doesn't seem like anything to justify the price

@Bukster You're talking about a company that thinks it's okay to sell map packs for $15.

"Welcome to BlizzCon. You have three days with tons of info and discussion on three gaming franchises. Here's your goody bag with over $100 worth of stuff in it, including a game for an exclusive in-game item in one of our games."

"Welcome to Call of Duty XP. Thanks for the money. Mill around the other chumps and argue about who's better. If you are lucky, you might get to have an intelligent dicussion with someone."

I think what a lot of you are failing to realize is that this is a charity event where ALL proceeds are going towards U.S. Troops to aid in their transition from combat back to the working populace.
Now where some of you say that it's not worth it and its not this compared to BlizzCon and blah blah...how many of those events give 100 percent of their proceeds to a charity???
Take a step back and understand that if it is not your cup of tea....that's cool. Great. But there are some people that are willing to pay 150 for two days of paint ball at a map laid out like one that is the game. How many of the other conventions can offer that...?? What a novel concept..you actually have to apply some physical attributes to using your head as well.....

When reading this, "Activision has announced that the $150 tickets (good for both Sept. 2 and 3) will go on sale at 1 p.m. EDT sharp on the [event's official site]."

That doesn't really ENTICE someone to click on the link especially with no mention of a charitable event anywhere in the post.

The eyes see, CoD convention, $150. The brain says, NO.

Granted you are entitled to your view...I can respect that. But not everything is as nefarious or about being overpriced. It clearly states what the proceeds go towards. Most people will write this off since it is going to a charity but so what. If COD is something you are into and you enjoy...what's wrong with spending the money to immerse yourself into the game a little further and for a charitable cause???

Reading a lot of ignorance in here. if you read any thing about this conference you would have read there will be A+++ entertainment that is reported worth the price of admission alone. Plus, a full size COD map played with paintball guns. Stop being so dumb and do a google search.

That and the proceeds go to the cod endowment fund, that helps out our vets! Its like the state dinners mrs Obama throws and charges $120 for... Only she doesn't have paintball and eminem...

Plus I like cod alot more than washington in its current form anyway (...that was really depressing to put in writing, but none the less true...)
