Final Fantasy Type-0 dated in Japan

Final Fantasy Type-0 (formerly known as Final Fantasy Agito XIII) will launch in Japan on October 13. Andriasang says the game, which comes on two UMDs, will cost ¥7,700 -- a hike from the regular ¥5,040 for most PSP games.

Square Enix also released a new trailer, but to get a better idea of Type-0's fast-paced battles (one of its facets that prompted the change in name) you should check out the 20-minute demonstration. The game currently has no announced launch plans for North America.

Just so I'm clear, Agito and Versus aren't the same, right? I dont get why they cant just go up from XIII (or XIV, if you want to recognize that as a legitimate numerical entry, which I don't) instead of having four (XIII, XIII-2, Versus XIII, Agito XIII) games, two of which don't even relate to the original XIII, have the number XIII tacked on to it.

And now after writing all those XIII's I can't get that weirdo gamecube shooter game XIII out of my head...

its because XIII, XIII-2, Versus XIII, and Agito XIII all take place in the same universe, no numbered FF game share the same game universe.

October in Japan? Great, that means a late 2012 launch for the rest of the world.

Agreed. FFX was the last good thing SE did. It was engaging, fun and told a great story.

@Theneverendingsoda we will never know. i'm actually looking forward to XIII-2 as i didn't got enough of XIII characters and story so for my next year sequel is welcomed one.

The last good FF was FF9, and that was in 2000.

Nostalgia for the Millennial generation has clouded the reality that FFX was also just a linear, on-rails piece of crap just like 13 is.

The reality is, the last good Final Fantasy was 11 years ago.

Zetsubou Sensei is voicing Machina.

Also, the Major (from Ghost in the Shell) is also voicing a character in the game.

I hope they localize it. Type-0 is bound to be way more interesting than XIII-2.

@Prince David I'm sure it will. All they have to do is use the new Sony tech that allows developers to port PSP games to PS3 and release it on the PSN, boom, done and you have my money. :)

I am starting to think that Final Fantasy is lost forever. All we are getting out of SE anymore is crapy MMOs or crapy action games that mite as well be on rails. And what is with re hashing the same universe over and over? Have they really run out of new ideas? I for one hope that this and 13-2 fails. Maby then they will go back to the drawing bord and take a look at what made FF great.

@Angel Mass best band in the world right there. Fujiwara is such a greaaaaaat composer and lyricist.....buying this game just to support the band doing more game songs. this will also make the 3rd CD release in 2011..which is awesome.

FF7: CC was awesome. I haven't played 12 but lots of people enjoy it, and I loved 13.

This is going to get an English release. Whether or not it will get a physical PSP release or a digital only or a PS3 Remaster or whatever, its going to come out overseas. Square hasn't spent too much money and time on this game to NOT bring it out. Besides that the creator has also gone on the record saying that they made to try to appeal more to North American gamers.

I really hope this game releases outside of Japan. It'd be a great way to start sending off the PSP with a bang.

In all honesty, I think 12 was the last good one. Did anyone play 10? That story was truly not very good. And the ending? *Spoiler* Tidus jumping through Yuna to high-five his dad on a cloud, completely bypassing anything like a touching ending? No thanks.
