So, based on what was said, who wants to bet the game is released 12/21/12?

Cant wait. Im amazed how great brotherhood was, even though only being a year or so after 2.

Though it got boring near the end, too much ezio. >

This is bullshit. The Assassin's Creed story started out so promising and then the ending of the second one jumped the shark so bad it went spinning off into orbit. Then, when everyone thought Ezio was a great character, they just milked it to death. It would be like taking a break between Mass Effect 2 and 3 and putting out two spin-off games dealing almost entirely with Wrex. If you have talented writers, they don't need 60-80 game hours to wrap up one character arc. Congrats, Assassin's Creed, you're the Madden of the action-adventure genre.

...Except the stories and the games themselves have consistently sustained a good quality over the decades. I mean, with so much critical and financial success, OBVIOUSLY these guys jumped the shark.

In all seriousness, though, the ending was confusing, same with Brotherhood, but they're tying up all the narrative threads in this game, so what's the big deal?

For the record, Assassin's Creed is a much better story than 95% of the games out there.

I kinda see your point. By the way this article sounds, you'd think Ezio had no gameplay time, when in fact we'e seen more of him than Altair and Desmond combined.

@Iron Man I kinda think Brotherhood was weak compared to AC2. AC2 was a much bigger game and had better context and story. Brotherhood was like a big expansion pack. I finished most of the game in about 6 hours. The multiplayer and Desmond's ending lifted the game's quality a little bit. I still love the series. I just hope it doesn't end like Lost in terms of giving answers or become another Madden or Call of Duty when it comes to milking the franchise.

Hmm I just hope revelations looks different and plays a little different. The first 3 games look amazing, true eye candy in the visual department but there is only so much candy of the same flavour you can eat. The story is good but its spread so thinly i have found it difficult to engage with.
Still a fantastic game though!!

Not at all. I liked Altair better but Ezio is a far better "character". Most of that being Ubisoft actually spent time developing the character of Ezio instead of flushing him down the toilet like they did with Altair.
Just my personal opinion on it. I'm sure someone will have an entire list of why Ezio is better but Altair is still my favorite. Man what a character he could have been...hope Revelations does him justice.

One thing I'm concerned about the story in the AC series is that there's simply no real way of telling when the story will be "over". Since this is one of Ubi's flagship titles, I'm sure they don't know how long they'll run the series for either.

You get where I'm going with this? So long as Ubi can make money off the game, they'll keep adding to the story however many times they want. And while I appreciate they're taking the time to close a few plot threads in Revelations, I don't really want to get that vested in a story that doesn't seem to have any real structure. I dread the time when the AC series gets completely convoluted and Ubi decides to "reboot" it altogether.

Not to sound like a hater. I love the series. I just don't think there's any real way for Ubi to ever give a satisfying ending to the story, if there will even be one. And without that, what's the point of even getting into the story in the first place?

Will it be officially AC3? Because from what I remember the series is originally suppose to be a trilogy, now it's just 2 games and a few spin offs.

@drunkenpandaren I think they are saving the official #3 until Ezio's arc is done, just like Altair got the one game for his story.

I love this game, and loved Ezio... This game was my favorite franchise when it first came out. I was so engrossed in it, the story and everything. After beating AC:Brotherhood.... I don't have that yearning to play more. I mean, yeah Ezio is a badass... but I want something new... something fresh. I would consider Desmond playing as himself with badass abilities fresh... But I guess Ubisoft is gonna milk one of my favorite franchises for all it's worth.

Yeah, same here. I really don't know why they're turning this into a yearly franchise AND milking the Ezio character. Why didn't they just take a year off (or two even) and start off with Assassin's Creed 3?

You know, that female Egyptian assassin who killed Cleopatra with a snake? I WANT TO PLAY THAT. Not Ezio for the third freaking time.

If releasing games that are such of high quality, and improvements over every earlier game is milking, I wish more companies would do it. A year is a decent enough amount of time to play through a game, and then want another similar game, in my opinion. Brotherhood surprised me, I didn't think I'd care much before I played it, but having thoroughly enjoyed 2 and Brotherhood after all I can't wait for another dose of milk. I suppose at some point the games will disappoint, but so far they've been great. Mixing all three characters sounds like it'll give us some variety, too, I'm excited.

I think most people are saying that they are milking it because brotherhood was too much more of the same thing.

I am excited to play this game and I have no doubt it will be fun, but I really wish they would have jumped forward in terms of time periods for each game. I thought after Assassin's Creed 2, they would jump to the late 18th century - during the social and political revolution in Europe, namely France. Then they could have moved on to the early 20th century with the industrial revolution, World War I and all. Definitely could have gotten some interesting gameplay and story-arching out of those settings.

The good thing about them releasing so many games so close to each other is the price drops. When 'Brotherhood' was released I picked up 'II', when 'Revelations' is released I'll pick up 'Brotherhood' and so on.

I've been wanting to know what happens of Altair since AC, it's cool to have two games with Ezio, but Altair is who I started with and who I ultimately want to play as.

The "franchise milking" comments are apparently everywhere now... But why? There's only been one game that came out after a year (with a second one on the way). Has it been confirmed that AC3 (or god forbid, another spinoff) will be released a year after Revelations? If so, this will be the first I hear of that, and for now, I will consider that as Internet Propaganda.

Why are we hating on the "milking"? AC:B was incredible, somehow managing to take AC2 (which was ALSO incredible), and turning the quality up to 11. For all we know, AC:R could very well do the same thing, especially with A) Altair being back (everybody seemed to like his character), B)What we JUST read (some story points being resolved), and C)THERE'S LIKE, 50 MILLION PEOPLE WORKING ON THIS GAME EVERY YEAR! COD is understandably stale, 150 or so people working on the game, taking what was good and doing exactly that again is boring. But the AC series is so much more than that. We have constantly seen gameplay improvements, story improvements, and character improvements. But more than that, there are like 4 Ubisoft teams working on this game, HUNDREDS of people... Every year... Spending more man hours in one year than I would bet many studios spend in 2 or 3 years.

If making this series an annual release means that I get consistent improvements (which so far, I have been), I will gladly support Ubisoft and whatever they are doing with this game.
