I don't understand this or the MGS collections. This is 2 and 3 and MGS is 2, 3 and 4 right? What a half-assed collection.

It could simply be an issue with getting approval from a creator. Xenogears took forever to come to America on the PSN due to SE's need to acquire approval from a lot of individuals who worked on the game and who no longer work at SE.

It could also be the fact that both MGS1 and SH1 were both PS1 games. While the rest are PS2. Not sure why that would matter but that is the only two logical reasons.

Not only are they both PS1 games, they are both on PSOne Classics on PSN.

It matters because these "HD Remakes" aren't fully remaking the models. They're kinda lazying out by stretching the models, adding a few new nodes, and then adding filters to cover up their poor workmanship. Atleast this is with the Capcom one. I'm not sure of the Konami ones, but it's still my guess.

It's a little lame, yeah, but I also think it has something to do with trying to HD-ify a PSOne game. I mean think about it, what could they do to improve the visual fidelity short of remaking the entire game?

At any rate, Hi Jinx better handle this baby with care. SH2 is in my all-time top 10 greatest games.

@The Aquacharger They're not even remakes, really. They are ports of existing games, with the only changes to the code being to take advantage of different hardware. Conker L&R, Final Fantasy IV DS, and MGS Twin Snakes are remakes. Banjo-Kazooie XBLA, God of War HD Collection, and Chrono Trigger DS are ports.

No, the MGS collection is 2-3-Peace Walker (which before now, was a PSP exclusive). 4 isn't on it. Why would they make an HD remake of an already HD game?

I'd still rather have them all on one disc. Even if they didn't want to hd-ify MGS1 or SH1 I'd rather them be on there than not at all. The splinter cell set was right, everything up to the ones that are already on the current consoles. The tomb raider one was a bit puzzling since all those were on the 360. I was hoping for 1-4 there.

@TaintedKane You're in for a treat. SH2 and 3 are the best games in the series, IMO.

It's been years since I've played either of them and I'm looking forward to running through them again to see the new visuals. (And new voice acting too. I'm a bit mixed on that...the original voice acting was bizarre in places, but it seemingly added to the creepy-weird vibe...)

IMO, 3 had a really bad first half, which is even worse if you're coming into the series not having played SH1.

Once you actually get to Silent Hill though, 3 is some of the wildest stuff Team Silent has ever done.

I liked SH4 the room a lot. Being in that apartment, and some of the things that go on inside that place gave me the creeps. Too bad that wasnt included on this collection.

Buying this, and MGS HD, and ICO....but not Resident Evil 4 & CV...three guesses why.

1- Vanilla
2- Super
3- Arcade Edition

Silent Hill 4 had 1st person views so I'd imagine it would have been more of a pain in the arse. Either they were lazy or they wanted to focus 2 and 3 because of popularity. Either way I'm sure they considered it though.

It's kind of weird that almost all of the comments on the Silent Hill HD remakes are positive when the comments on the Resident Evil HD remakes were so negative. Here's a sampling for contrast:

"What happened to you Capcom? You used to make good games. Have you lost your touch?"

"Capcom makes me laugh. I'm not even a fan of Capcom at all but just seeing how badly they're hurting their fanbase makes me wonder what the hell is going on in their heads."

"I beat re4 already. And I still have the dreamcast original and ps2 version of Veronica x. So, screw capcom!"

So what's the difference? Hypocrisy?

Well, the horrible reality is Konami is putting this collection out due to the "not so good" recent Silent Hill games released , taking advantage of people wanting to play the original Silent Hills. Smart move I say. Because I'm buying this!!!!!

I'm incredibly pleased to see an hd touch-up of SH2. SH3 was good too but nowhere near SH2, none of them have been. As for those saying that the omision of SH4 is a bad thing; I don't really understand how that's the case. SH4 was an afterthought of a game. Granted as a standalone game it was good, but that's all; it should never have been labelled SH. As it happens that's how it was made, the game was already happening before they decided to label it SH and add the SH-elements to it.

Also by way of replying to previous comments re: pc gamers not existing, I can assure you we do. I'm not going to argue for one device or another to play games on, that's the choice of the gamer, but I hope we're not forgotten with this release. I'd love to play SH 2 with HD graphics (on pc). They need to move away from single console offers; I will not buy a PS3 or 360 for one specific game; that said my pc as it stands can handle more than either consoles. Not trying to start a fanboy war or anything, but just don't leave out one large section of the market for little good reason.
