If zombies don't devour our lumpy noggins, then surely the robot uprising will take care of "the human threat." . Based on this video from an undergrad at Purdue University, we know that robots are in the lead. First they learn how to play DDR, then they learn how to peel the skin from our bones.
DDR-playing robot can't be a good sign

Actually, Skynet exists. It's a British Defense satellite. AI targeting, nuclear capable, and has the know how and technological means to fix over 70% of anything that might go wrong with itself. No joke. They build something like this, then decide to name it Skynet. I wonder what happens when they plug it into the net and it Googles itself?...............

Actually, I imagine it showing internet euphemisms and flipping the virtual bird at users before the nukes going off. What a horrible way for humankind to be eradicated... all because a derp-tastic computer did it "4 da LuLz".
Its final statement? "Y U MAD?"

eh, the robot plays better DDR then some people I know.
On a serious note, Konami needs to start making good DDR games again.

Indeed. (I'm keeping an eye on DDR II on the Wii, as I'm hearing it'll be getting more songs from X2 arcade. (played some of them via simfiles (not like I have an actual X2 machine near me I can play) and alot of them are pretty good.

That kid just posted a video of him controlling a robot in order to push four buttons with its feet, something that you could do with an erector set in the 80's, with a promise of more to come. The more to come portion being the only thing of interest here, maybe wait and post that video and not this crap.

@Landosystem I have to agree 100%. This is really budget. The bot is off the shelf.

I'm willing to bet those movements are all stock with the bundled software, making the only thing impressive about this project as it stands is the fact that he built a tiny functional DDR pad that his pre-built robot was capable of actuating with its tiny reach and weight.
The robot comes with gripping arms, but he opted to have it stick the arms out and he has to physically press on the nubs to velcro it down. I'm no engineer, but that probably says something about the chances of this ever actually working the way anyone would expect it to when you hear "DDR Robot".
It's a really nice DDR pad though. Good job, man.

This is just a total tangent, but does it ever weird you out that people make robots that look human? Wouldn't a robot with four pistons positioned right above the respective pads be a far more efficient design? Besides not having to worry about balancing on the two legs you're going to use for the actual game, you could also do the "double" notes that DDR throws at you, which I doubt this thing will ever be able to do.
Just a thought.

Giving them a human frame means the robot can perform in environments already built for people. There wouldn't be an extra cost to support he/she/it if the power can be self-sustained.
Making quadrapeds or some other exotic frame adds tot he cost as now you need to redesign the environment to suit their needs.
Also, we are thinking ahead when they start massacring us in our sleep to take our flesh (robots don't sleep).
