Batman: Arkham City 'Steelbook Edition' exclusive to Australian EB Games, comes with classic costume

We'll be honest with you, folks -- we want nothing more than to dress as the pastel, '70s-era Batman while we prance around Arkham City. That'd just be tops. Unfortunately, we don't live in Australia, where the EB Games-exclusive "Steelbook Edition" comes with the blue-tinged DLC, along with a few more bat-themed goodies.

Buyers of the "Steelbook Edition" also get their game in a fancy metal box, access to the "Joker Carnival" Challenge Map DLC, and a copy of the "Batman: Under the Red Hood" animated film on DVD (or Blu-ray, should you buy the PS3 version). And for $98 AUD ($107 USD), they'll be paying exactly the same price as Aussies buying the regular edition at other game retailers.

How is this better then the collector's edition?

Probably won't change the gameplay but I'd really like a code for that particular Batman skin..

I don't collect anything (but ladies haw haw) and even I want this.

Games are too damn expensive in Australia.

That isn't a figure, its the look for the DLC costume you get.

I'm sure other retailers have other costumes as well, I've seen an all black one with a red bat symbol somewhere (sorry, couldn't tell you the name of that costume/series). They'll no doubt come to the US as well.

@(Unverified) I concur...Batman Beyond skin would be awesome. I recently managed to watch the entire series on the Hub...they aired them in sequence every weekday morning. Was in heaven!

Dammi! There is ZERO excuse for any of you not to get this game! Besides, I saw Under the Red Hood, and it was freaking sweet! So there is doubly no excuse for it now!

Did you bother to read the article? This isn't US, its for the Australian release, and the price of the Steelbook is the exact same price as a regular edition of the game anywhere else.

No, $98 is the pre-order price. ie, the rip-off new game price from EB. You can walk into any other store on day one and buy new games for $80, and EB don't price match on pre-orders.

EB (and others) advertise freebies for pre-orders, but you're still paying more than normal prices for them.

Retail games are absurdly over priced here and even with these extras $98 is still too much.

Wow! They not only get the better Batman figure, but they get Under the Red Hood which was AMAZING! Better than that shitty Gotham Knight...ugh!

Got all excited there when I thought they meant a real costume you could wear. I'll just have to put my vigilante crime fighting on hold for a bit. Gives me time to do some exercise and get muscles though.

dollars to doughnuts says that all these skins (Dennis O'Neill batman, robin, etc.) will be available for purchase a few weeks after release. i was kinda bummed that i didn't get any of the classic MK fatalities for preordering, but was pleased that they at least made them available for purchase. *fingers crossed*

Good for AU. Batman Under the Red Hood is a great animated movie (my favorite so far) . I do think we in the US get a better Batman costume for DLC but I guess this means they might sell us different costumes?

It has been confirmed that there is a Red Robin skin available with the bestbuy exclusive pre-order.

Robin will come complete with his own unique gadgets and special moves, and will be playable in all challenge maps in the game, as well as two additional challenge maps that are included with the pack – Black Mask Hideout and Freight Train Escape. The pack will also contain a *bonus Red Robin character skin*

i love that costume! i also think they should put the Adam West costume in, as well. i hope they offer this in America, too.

Damn, I want this! Of course for the steelbook, but for the bat-skin majorly. I'm a huge fan of the comics (Batman is my favorite to read), and I love that suit so much more than than black and gray. It's a lot more current than the 70's. Another big reason I want it is that it comes with Under the Red Hood instead of Gotham Knight, which I have already. Although I've seen Red Hood like five times!

I pre-ordered the CE from Best Buy regardless while I was attending Comic Con. There was a booth set up, and they were giving out Arkham City t-shirts to people who pre-ordered it. But their bonus of a Tim Drake Robin DLC pack (character and challenge maps) sealed if for me.

You might want to research "pastel colors," "the 70s" and "Batman" a little more, then you will know the pain of the older generation at reading that abominably stupid first sentence.
