I'll try it, I usually play LoL, and a friend of my told me HoN had a lot more items and could negate creep gold, and that it was harder.

Yup. Creep Denying is a a huge strategy in the game. A lot of people hate it and I imagine that's a big plus for League of Legends.

@Dismissile well if you can negate creep gold, then i don't know how much zoning is needed then, in LoL you need to zone early game if you want to get an advantage in gold and exp, but in HoN you would just negate it without any need to engage the enemy hero?? I dunno, I'm just assuming

@DarkSonata

Ganking/Killing heroes is still really important early on. You get a lot of gold for killing the heroes and a lot of experience. Plus...the time they spend respawning they are not gaining experience and you can gain a lot of it by killing creeps.

@DarkSonata Your enemy is denying creeps, keeping you from getting gold. What do you mean you wouldn't need to engage the enemy? That's all the more reason to engage. Besides, if both sides are negating enemy gold, it really doesn't change anything at all from your perspective.

Creep denies are just another layer of complexity. You can't always get the deny easily, just like you won't always get the kill easily. It's a skill.

LoL = HoN Easy Mode

Naa only saw a youtube video about it and it looks completely lame and nerdy and they are all free to play which is 100% pure definate fact that they suck donkey nuts as all free to play games are horrible. E.G Maplestory and the other countless korean wow clones.

(TF2 does not suck as it was a payed game and they never gave anything good to purchasers like me! raaaage!)

Maplestory sucks? Then why do 95 million people worldwide play it? And I can guarantee you its not a WoW clone. free to play doesn't make a game bad, it just means the developers realize they can make money off of their game without charging a subscription fee

Awesome.

The worst thing about HoN was the community. A fine game otherwise.

Being able to play for free and not play with the dedicated community? Man, I don't care if you only get 15 characters. It would still be worth it if there was only 5.

@Alexisonfire HoN community is terrible, I really think they need to have a rating system for that. Like, so you could flag players are griefers or for being poor sports. It's annoying to play a match and have that one guy on the team who does nothing but run his mouth off.

So... I get to be segregated forever so I can be berated by my "legacy" masters. HA HA! Yeah. Nice try. I don't think I'll be digging into this poo poo pie, thank you very much. I had enough of neckbeard armchair general communities in MOBA games to last me a lifetime. Like League of Legends, whose pizza flavored feelings gets hurt if you don't jump into PvP and die to them, preferring co-op/bot play with others.

@peter pham It's honestly up to one taste's. They're both great games, but I know I'll be sticking with League of Legends. I played HoN during beta and for quite some time afterwards, but once I sunk my teeth into LoL there was no going back. :P

@peter pham It depends on taste. Are you a longterm dota player that wants better game infrastructure and graphics, but otherwise wants dota? Then I'd go with HoN. If you want something new, but made by some of the brains behind dota, go with LoL.

Personally, I find LoL a bit more developed and refined than Dota was, so I enjoy it more. There's some facilities (like replays or spectator mode) that aren't really available in LoL, but the actual gameplay I find a lot more fulfilling. It all depends what you want though. If you just want 'good old dota', then HoN may be your thing.

Fair warning, due to the fact that HoN is basically dota, a lot of dota elitists migrated to it, which makes the community pretty terrible and unwelcoming for newer players. Remains to be seen how this will effect that.

Having both games since both went closed beta I'd have to say HoN is not nearly as good as LoL and there are A LOT of reasons for why this game falls short. I love S2, I loved savage and savage 2 I played those games through my school years but HoN isn't the gem that those games were.

I could comment on many aspects of the game but you may as well download it now and see for yourself. All I really have to say is in response to people saying LoL is easy mode HoN and that is that i these games difficulty is really defined by the ability of your opponents.

So now I've got to wonder.
Over time all the people that paid to play will be playing their own games but won't that number slowly dwindle down and it will only be free to play accounts?
Eventually legacy accounts will have no choice but to play with free to play accounts.

Still so there is no real compition for free accounts, why would you want that? Not going to pay money for anything

@Retrofraction Well, if you're looking for competition, and you're on a free account, wouldn't it be safe to assume that there would be other people doing the same. Hey, here's an idea, compete with them. :|

I don't see how this model makes money.

To boot, the HoN community doesn't really jive with the model they've created for it.

I guess this sort of epitomizes the old adage of "If you can't beat 'em join 'em," right? If your biggest competitor has a different business model and is doing 30 times the business you are then I guess it's time to copy what they're doing and hope it boosts sales.

I'll stick to League of Legends. A for effort though.
