Mario gets first-person in Unreal Engine 3
33
This isn't the first, second, or even third time that Mario's iconic Mushroom Kingdom has been translated into first person, but it is the first time anyone has ever associated the words "killing spree" and "goomba."

A multiplayer deathmatch would be exquisite.

@CaptainProtonX whn I hear the word "exquisite", I think of Pinhead in Bloodline. don't know why but like that one out of the whole series.

someone did this exact thing 2 years ago that i'm pretty sure joystiq reported on. it was just on another engine besides ue3 so i guess that makes this newsworthy? -_-

@(Unverified) Why is it that downvoted comments are no longer greyed out?

My theory is that greyed out comments attract peoples attention just as much as highlighted comments do, while skimming through comments. So, in a way, it gets the greyed out person more attention than just leaving them the same as average comments. Don't have anything to back that up, just the only logic I could make out of the change.

Weak sauce, there was a better version of mario in first person about a year ago. This just look sloppy.

Do you think that all those years ago, the good people at Nintendo realized that everyone and their grandmother would be recreating the first level of Super Mario Bros for the rest of forever?

Yes they did. Definitely.
I have no doubt about it.

Very well done! And that was a lot more playable than I thought it might look. I guess I didn't expect them to have implemented camera controls, but bravo.

I have to say, so far Jordan and Jess are great weekend editors.
Perhaps they should be called "J&J: Weekend Warriors" (that's terrible I know, but use your damn imagination)

The concept is decent, but the execution is terrible. 1st-person platforming doesn't work, unless it's done sparingly in Metroid Prime.
The powerups don't have any visual effect (no growing/shrinking, no color changes), the animation is sloppy, the transition of 2D levels into 3D first-person looks very... bleh.
