Well, seeing they brought in Freddy to the MK universe, might as well bring in Darth Vader. That'll get some sells going.

Sorry but I would have to disagree with you. First of all Darth Vader doesn't come to mind when I think of gore. Secondly, let's not give the developers any ideas about adding characters just because they will sell well! Aren't there enough games that do this?!

Actually, Netherealm has always wanted horror characters in MK. It's not a money scheme. If it were, I doubt Freddy would have been free :P

Rights issues, most likely. Though Chucky's size would absolutely break the game like Yoda did for SCIV or Gon in Tekken 2.

This got de-railed pretty quick
(Although the "Mortal Kombat" Star Wars comic gave me some laughs)

What I was implying was I really didn't enjoy seeing a character brought in from another series into Mortal Kombat, since I was really hoping for another Character from the Mortal Kombat series instead
(Bo Rai Cho for example, one of my favs)

I just watched a 4-hour (FOUR HOUR!) documentary on the "Nightmare" movies and am therefore obligated to pick up this (arguably) overpriced DLC just to give the devil his due.

Welcome to prime time, bitches!

Did the doc mention the old TV show Freddy's Nightmares?

Indeed it did. At 4 hours it was VERY comprehensive and went all the way through Freddy vs. Jason. It's called Never Sleep Again and I would highly recommend it.

Glad it didn't make it to the godawful remake. Never before have I been so tempted to rip off my penis and throw it at the screen.

Where can one find this doc? NOES 3 was the first horror movie I ever watched and I've been a Freddy fan ever since. Would love to check this out.

was following the making of that thing since they came on a forum I frequent and kept us updated about their films progress. they had to go through lots of red tape to get Wes since he was filming Scre4m, but I'm glad he made time. definitely worth the wait.

@The Pork I believe it's actually on Netflix Watch Instantly. Or do a Google search. I bought a copy of it when it first came out. It's VERY worthwhile. They dug up some folks who were underground for ages, like the actor who played Jesse in NoES2. Lots of great stories from the set and production of every single film. And a few candid notes from Wes himself. Definitely worth your time and/or money.

This is awesome. Wish it was klassic Freddy.

On a side note I am very annoyed that they just came out with a bundle package on the PS3 get all fighters for $15. Why couldn't have they brought this out weeks ago?

Yeah because "Where there is smoke, there is fire" is soooo much better. We all know "thunder take you" is awesome. Man, I swear. Nothing is never good enough for you darn kids. What about previous MKs when no one said anything at all?

I wanted to pass on this, but the fact that Netherrealm went to the extra effort to give him an actual backstory in MK canon makes me want to change my mind.

Pretty dumb. I understand they're wanting to take advantage of every WB license they can, but Freddy was a pretty poor decision, I think. The new Nightmare was pretty damn awful. It received poor reviews, so adding him into the mix must be one last ditch effort to see if this franchise is still alive. Because, everyone I've talked to doesn't give a damn about Freddy anymore. He was fun in the 90's, before he became a child molester.

@(Unverified) Uh, he was ALWAYS a child molester. The original films never made much of it, but Wes Craven himself stated in interviews that he was always a child molester/murderer.

Mmmmyes, I'm also ticked off at the fact he doesn't speak a single line of dialogue (just like the other three DLC characters, unless I'm wrong). I would've loved him to hear him say "Come to Freddy!" in his entrance or at least break the fourth wall by saying "Hmmm... great graphics." after his X-ray move. Maybe it had something to do with the trouble of finding a good voice actor or hiring Englund (or the new actor whose name I can't recall now), but still. :(

It's a good idea, but I can never buy into underpowered characters being interjected into a new universe. Does anyone really believe that Freddy could go toe-to-toe with the likes of Scorpion?

In the next Mortal Kombat, Freddy will join the Lin Kuei and later become a cyborg. (Now I'm just giving them ideas.)

If an important detail like that isn't explained from the beginning or had no relevance to the story, it never happened and means nothing. It's an afterthought, like Rowling coming out and saying Dumbledor is gay after the series was already written. I didn't notice Dumbledor hitting on Harry, Freddy didn't molest anyone in the original (it wasn't even mentioned in dialogue); whatever is said about that character outside the story doesn't exist, even if it's from the creator's mouth
