@(Unverified) because they're re-releasing a one year old game thats already $20. Unless those bundles are like $60, this is a terrible idea.

I actually just picked up Rock Band 3 last week or so. Figured for $20, I might as well. Glad to see the game might get some additional marketing support, I've had a rough time finding the instruments in stores.

Hey we should do a Guitar Hero vs. Rock Band fanboy flame war just for old times sake. I'll start it - Squares are so much better than circles.

It would be amazing if Madcatz ended being one of the internet darlings. Even the stupid name is starting to dull on me.

Bring back Shenmue!

@VideoGameConnection The zombie apocalypse will be made up of rhythm games shuffling around trying to eat other rhythm games. It should be fairly entertaining at first, but after the novelty has worn off just be annoying with all the traffic problems it will cause.

It sucks that PS3 users always get jipped a little when it comes to Rock Band.

Not really. Game sharing more than makes up for it. I have a few friends, and we all buy Rockband music. We also all have our profiles on each others' systems. So when one of us buys new music, all of us get it. This makes our library quite a bit larger.

YES!.. im glad im not the only one that noticed how much Harmonix in fact does prefer the 360 crowd over the PS3... but then agian who cares now, RB3 isnt the heavy weight game it was when if first came out... plus i always chalked it up to DLC sales prob being higher on the 360 then the PS3

Or travel back in time and get the real guitar for RB3 when it came out many many months ago and have been playing with a REAL guitar all this time...

I've been using a real bass and amp to play the Pro-Bass parts. Just buy the midi adapter for $40 and the game will think the special guitar is attached and show the Pro notation. Since you'll be missing all the parts, none of the tracked music will play, but all of your played music will exquisitely exude from the amp.

Of course, you'll get 0% for playing a song, but since you're there to learn real music, the childish endeavors of bygone years won't matter, WILL THEY?

Why no one has made a decent set of mesh heads yet is beyond me. I would throw my Ion in the trash in a second to use a standard kit with 4 simple mesh heads.

Considering how the only keyboards I've seen sold with the game have been with the Wii version, this is actually a good idea in getting more stock on the peripherals for the more desired versions of the game.

All Harmoix puts out is nostalgia DLC these days, not new bands. As a big rhythm gamer fan, it's killed the momentum for me. Wish they would release songs from last 18 months to 2 years only, from now on.

Harmonix is located in Cambridge, MA. Just outside Boston, Cambridge is home to MIT, Harvard, and an uncomfortable number of unemployed hipsters with long beards, tight clothes, and girlfriends that look like boys. These people seem to think the only good music ever made is from the 80's (or any nu-metal) so they all line up to go to 80's nights at the Commonground and Middlesex.

Then they go to work at Harmonix and pick crappy songs.

Ha, that's funny. The thing is, if Harmonix used DLC as a way to get current bands noticed, it could possibly even negotiate better licensing deals and get tracks down to 80 MS points. Harmonix is going for mass appeal, but the rhythm genre is now a niche fan base. Newer music has more credibility for Rock Band than a 6-pack of Def Leppard (a band I hated back when they were new).

I love the grand cyclical nature of this story. A hardware manufacturer, Red Octane, gets into the game publishing biz with Harmonix's Guitar Hero. Years later, with all sorts of craziness under the bridge, a hardware manufacturer, Mad Catz, gets into the publishing biz with Harmonix's Rock Band 3. Granted, the parallels aren't exact. Red Octane took the initial risk that kicked off the music game explosion, and Mad Catz is picking up a tried-and-true game after that explosion has spent itself. But it's intriguing all the same.
