Mortal Kombat Legacy uppercuts Blu-ray on November 8

Sure, you could watch the entirety of Mortal Kombat Legacy for free on YouTube right now, but who wants to do all of that clicking? That's for chumps -- no, you'd rather pop a nice, neat Blu-ray disc into your preferred player, sit back and soak it all in. You're a connoisseur, after all.

And on November 8, you'll be able to do just that when Warner Bros. releases Mortal Kombat Legacy on Blu-ray. High-Def Digest reports that in addition to all nine episodes, there will be a plethora of extras, including behind-the-scenes vignettes, a profile of director (and Mortal Kombat "super fan") Kevin Tancharoen and other exploratory pieces looking at the mythos of Mortal Kombat. All in all, it seems like a pretty decent package for a MSRP of $19.98.

Only question I have is why XBOX 360 tag is attached to this post? Did Microsoft announced Blu-Ray drive external drive, or is Joystiq trying to convince XBOX users that it is time to invest into PS3?

Seriously? There are dedicated Blu-Ray players besides the PS3. Also some people own multiple systems. Not mention the source for this news covers high-definition media...

@Odog4ever But his question stands why a 360 tag would be on this post. It has nothing to do with Blu Rays.

@radioactivez0r Mortal Kombat is a video game, on both Xbox and Playstation. Derp de derp, don't argue semantics... It's obviously the reasoning behind it.

Totally. He sold this series for me.

Yeah, it's definitely not perfect, but for a free series, it blew just about every video game adaptation out of the water. Really hope they're up for a "season 2" cause it'd be wrong to leave things like that. The bad cg will be as crisp as ever but luckily, so will all the great fighting.

@Tab I totally agree. You can tell that they really respect MK because they could have just made it a gore-fest, but they actually made it more about story. The fighting choreography was great too.

If it was like rebirth, and went from episode 1 - 9 with a connecting story. I'd consider it. But only like 1/3 of the episodes I enjoyed.

Will be buying.....

It's not hard getting it off youtube. Since it's already in 1080p, you can just use any Youtube HD downloader and get it. It's even in MP4 format.
But, since it's gonna be only stereo, I'll be getting it on Blu-ray and support them. Hope it'll come with 5.1 surround.

What it boils down to is whether or not you believe they should be paid for their work. I think they did well there for I will be buying it.

Releases 2 days before my birthday, you guys should all chip in....

While it was interesting as a web series I can't say its justified as a BR purchase...the series really lost its momentum when they didn't stick with the same ideas from that promo piece he originally shot. Instead all he made was a less cool variant on what he already had and some portions like the Mileena/Jade/Baraka portions were pretty terrible imo. I also was highly disappointed in Scorpion/Sub-Zero.

it'd be cool if we got some exclusive character or skin for Mortal Kombat if we purchased this

This series, while has it flaws, was pretty cool and made me pretty excited for another MK movie done similarly. Arent they working on one right now and this mini-series is suppose to be a backstory of sort for it? Or was that just a rumor?

As a mk fan i will be picking this up it was really a solid series, plus i want a season 2.

Series was good overall, but there were definite inconsistencies with the quality...The Johnny Cage ep was the best by far, and then followed by the horrendouse milena/kitana

I'm a little surprised its not also on DVD unless joystiq just forgot to mention it.

I'll end up getting this since it comes out before my birthday.
