I agree.
I do not think that's something Nintendo wants to do. They already got a glimpse of the downfall of a high price, with the 3DS.

@psnshe69mee Thats one of the reasons why Nintendo is hesitating on wether or not they should sell them separetely. I high price on the controller may scare consumers away.

Is it wrong that I'm most excited about this not having to take AA Batteries? About time Nintendo, though I don't see why you couldn't have done this with the Wii Remote Plus too.

@psnshe69mee So far they've said that you will not be able to buy the controller separately. So you'll only have/need one per system. It's a long time til launch though, so plenty of time for them to change their minds.

No.
If people see that the new console has expensive accesories, they will hesitate on buying it.

Agreed, actually the 3DS price decrease probably is a good thing for Nintendo fans. If that system would have sold like hotcakes at the price it was originally set at then I think Nintendo would have been emboldened to go after a higher price point for the Wii U. I think what happened with the 3DS probably confirmed that the lower price point that Nintendo usually goes for with their hardware as compared to the other console makers is the right way to go. I will own a Wii U, I have no choice.

I do believe that this is the ugliest controller I have ever seen. Would it kill Nintendo to put some curves on half their box-shaped impliments? I know they got away with it with the NES, but come on... even the SNES controllers were more comfortable than half the crap they've been putting out recently in terms of controllers.

Honestly speaking, in what other way could consoles advance? Yes, graphics and power are good, but if thats the only thing that gets enhanced, then whats the point of getting a console, when you can get a PC?

I prefer consoles over PC, specially for the controllers.
I was not bashing consoles, I was just saying to Crzycracka that if consoles only enhanched their graphics, then it would be the same if you just bought a PC.
Nintendo doesn't just add more power to their consoles in every gen, but they add new ways in which players can interact with the games.

Of course consoles have better games than PCs. Specially for the exclusives.
What I was trying to say is that consoles should give different experiences than those found on PCs.

"Of course consoles have better games than PCs. Specially for the exclusives."

That is basis on opinion, my friend. In my opinion, consoles do NOT have better games than PC.

I'm having more fun on the loads of PC exclusives than I am having on the console exclusives. Way more fun.

***Hint, there are also more exclusives on PC then the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 combine.

This is my experience however from playing on my Xbox 360, PC, and PS3.

@DokiDokiBawanga

The major disadvantages of the PC to the general public however is;

1. It is very expensive to develop and market for consoles. Yes it is very profitable, but the only companies that survive and get that profit are the super rich third party publishers and the first party manufacturer.
With that being said, most games on consoles are heavily marketed so more people actually know what is coming out and stuff.

Third party publishers market games to get the most sales out of them While the first party, markets their games to get sales on those games AND to get people to buy their consoles.

Compared to the PC, marketing is not heavily required. Most publishers and developers don't fund marketing for PC games because all they have to do is; put their name on the front page of a Digital store or get sites to spread their name. Television ads aren't a big thing when you can get your targeted consumers, with a few internet ads.
In addition, the PC does not have a first party. So there is no marketing to get you to buy a PC.

So overall to the general public, people might think that the PC does not have that many games because its not marketed everywhere. Of course that is wrong.

2. Japanese developers don't develop many games for the PC because Japan is heavily a console-world. Most JRPGs however are being pushed to the handhelds as well due the vast popularity of handhelds in Japan. So I agree with you, the PC is not heavy on JRPGs. That is changing though. Digital Distribution is become pretty heavy in Japan and the PC is getting more and more popular over there. I'm expected more and more JRPGs to be released on the PC.

The Indie JRPG scene is very good on PC as well. Although most games are in Japanese and not in English trans.

Here I just found another exclusive that I had no idea existed 3 mins ago.

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/prototype-trailer-black-death/718209

These moments are pretty common for me because the PC library is so huge and there is little marketing.

While on Consoles, I can easily count the exclusives per platform with my fingers and the library tends to be more limited.

How many of those console gamers know off? Probably not many. Read my above post.

and why you choose RTS and MMO? Is it because those genres aren't heavily on consoles that you must believe that, those are the only genres on PC?

Lets take the most popular game on consoles, Call of Duty.

How many console gamers knew what Call of Duty was before it was released on consoles? Not many at all.

How many consoles gamers knew what Crysis was before it was released on consoles? Not many. Yet it sold 3 Million copies solely on PC. PC Gamers know what it is, but most console gamers don't.

Just because you don't know what they are doesn't mean they don't exist.

The thing is, you have to count RTS and MMO games, for those are a large part of the library of major exclusives. Imagine counting the first-party Xbox games that aren't shooters. Though you could find them, shooters are a huge part of the library. Without them, it is quite a bit smaller and ultimately untrue in it's representation of the library.

"While on Consoles, I can easily count the exclusives per platform with my fingers and the library tends to be more limited. "

Uncharted, Warhawk/Starhawk, PixelJunk series (at least 3-4 types of games), Gears of War (2/3), Fable (current gen games), Halo/Halo Wars (current gen), Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooper, God Of War, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Ape Escape, Buzz!, SingStar, Alan Wake, Rock Band/Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk (current gen), Final Fantasy 13, Genji, Gran Turismo, Forza, Heavy Rain, Crackdown, Infamous, Ico/SOTC/TLG, Killzone, LBP, MAG, Viva Pinata, MGS4, ModNation Racers, Rachet & Clank, Banjo Kazooie, Lips, Resistance, SOCOM, Ninja Gaiden, Twisted Metal, DOA, Valkyria Chronicles, PGR, Wipeout, Armored Core, Lost Odyssey, Army Of Two, Bayonetta, Brutal Legend, Saints Row, Demon's Souls, Skate series, Tales Of... series...

That's only a small selection of console/ps3/360 exclusives. There were a lot, lot, lot, lot more I didn't even mention. Now, outside of smaller indie games, flash games, foreign language games, and the like, would you still say PCs have more exclusives (released in the last 5 years)? Some of it's biggest games have been on consoles in the past (C&C, Battlefield, CoD, UT, etc.), with many more going multiplatform now too.

I know what you mean but there is probably plenty of innovation to be done on the service side of consoles and with their entertainment and network infrastructures. I don't really agree that the ONLY innovation is the input method. Any input method should be complimentary to the game and not the focus.

Does anyone else think Nintendo could be prepping for full Virtual Reality gaming with this system? They are already streaming video, it has accelerometers, gyros, magnetometers (plenty of sensors to determine position, movement and direction) and also have stated the possibility of 3D gaming on the Wii U (also necessary for a stereoscopic VR headset). So everything is now in place for complete VR gaming.
