I think I would have preferred a new Shadow Complex over Infinity Blade. I got bored with IB after the first run through...

@sammo21 - Ditto. Sure, IB was fun, but once you realized that the castle was all you would end up playing (with alternate routes being nothing but a distant thought until the update hit), it got old real quick.

But this is what gets me:

"We were thinking about the sequel [to Shadow Complex], we were ready and 'Maybe we should start working on this,' and instead stopped everything and went and made Infinity Blade."

They "stopped everything"? Does that mean they were actually working on it?

@sammo21 I think they are doing what makes most sense to them, and Infinity Blade did very well on iOS. Also, they keep adding new things to the game like new dungeons and whatnot, with a constant stream of new content how can you get "bored" with Infinity Blade?

@Nintendo Tim
IGN reported that Shadow Complex 2 was "well underway." Mike Capps described it as "very fun", and that it even featured co-op play.

Should probably clarify that last quote, I think he said "it isn't a question of if, but when", IIRC. The current closing quote makes it appear that the sequel is still up in the air.

@willc23 - The quote in the article says the exact same thing, just with the words reversed.

"It's a question of when, not if" & "It isn't a question of if, but when" mean the same thing.

I'd love it if cHair was secretly making a Metroid game for Wii U's launch and that's why there was no Shadow Complex 2.

I would love a new 2.5D Metroid, but not on the WiiU.

@fohf Other M was awful. Since when is Samus scared of Ridley?

I would rather see Shadow Complex released on more platforms, I.e. The PS3 and PC so that a wider audience can play the game.

Why is it that when gamers play a good game they always want a sequel I kinda like waiting a while between sequels or gasp dare I say it? Not have a sequel at all! Sometimes there can be too much of a good thing plus there's so many games out right now oh well I guess this is why the game industry is over 70 billion now in revenue I guess.

Did you finish the game? Kind of ended on a cliffhanger note, some of us would like to play through the rest of the story.

Shadow Complex will be two-years-old in three days. I'd say that's a sufficient waiting period for a sequel, but we're not getting it, so...blah.

I'm the biggest Metroid fan on the planet and I couldn't get into Shadow Complex at all.

But I think it was mostly due to the story. So yeah maybe if they were secretly working on a Metroid for 3DS I'd be happy.

I am a defender of Other M, but these guys prove they understand at least the mechanics of a Metroid game better than Nintendo does these days.

@lonecow Wait... You're a Metroid fan. All of their side scrollers never been much a story, so how can you fault Shadow Complex for following the same formula?

Ah sorry I should have clarified.

There is a vast difference between little story and bad story. Metroid might have very little story (even Other M leaves most up to your imagination despite the awful dialog and characterization) but are still really fun and engaging.

Shadow Complex's story was just bad. Spineless liberal democrats become evil conservative douchebags and steal Nathan Drake's girlfriend. Great story.

Infinity blade is a mediocre shitfest. I really hope this Iphone/Ipad fad dies off and people just end up using Android and Windows Phone 7.

That makes no sense. You're just another mindless Apple hater. It's not just iOS, it's all mobile gaming that's blowing up. iOS was the first big step for the industry. So wishing for the end of iPhone won't stop anything. Developers would still make games for other mobile platforms.

For the people who aren't reading between the lines, they basically noticed that they had an opportunity to push the unreal engine onto the iOS and be able to sell their middleware to other developers, with Infintiy Blade being a demonstration of some of the possibilities the engine has to offer.

In that line of thought, they could make one game that could sell well and make SOME money or make another game that could lead to LOADS of money.
