This is cool that it'll be on PSN. I just hope you can download it and play it on the PS Vita

I thought the last boss looked straight out of Darius Twin. I really enjoyed pixel junk shooter so Im sure this will be really entertaining as well.

Day 1 buy.

Ummm. This is not a sidescroller. This is a vertical shooter. This is like how Taco Bell just takes a name of a Mexican food and applies to it's random concoctions of the same 5 ingredients.

Also, Pixel Junk Vertical Shooter or Pixel Junk Horizontal Shooter doesn't sound too good. It sounds like they made another Pixel Junk Shooter, but took off an axis...
This looks cool but I almost think it would've been better as an actual sidescrolling game with something that isn't a spaceship. I like how Pixel Junk changes it up with every game and this seems a little bit too similar to the Shooter games. But who am I kidding? I'll probably buy it anyway...

Just got got Pixeljunk Shooter 2 about a month back when there was a discount for Plus subscribers. Great game and a lot of fun. Now I gotta pick up the first one before this one is released.

It feels wrong that I've never bought a PixelJunk game...

Go buy Monsters. It is seriously in the top 5 PS3 games, including retail, of all time.

Come on...it's a nice little PSN game, but it's not better than Demon's Souls, God of War III, Heavy Rain, Uncharted 2, LittleBigPlanet, InFamous, Warhawk, or Valkyria Chronicles.

I understand that people are comparing this to Pixeljunk Shooter. I mean they are both "shooters" but this game has a distinctly more shmup feeling to it than Shooter. Which is a good thing.

Pixeljunk monsters is my favorite, I hope someday they make a sequel.

I think I remember them saying they were thinking about doing a sequel to it on the PSP, but the piracy problems were so bad that they didn't make enough money off of the first Monsters to make another for the PSP. Hopefully they make another for PSN sometime soon. I bought Monsters, but I haven't put a lot of time into it yet.

This looks very... plain. It's like they sat down and said "let's make the most generic, unremarkable retro shmup possible".

I just hope it's not as tough as Shooter 2. I loved the first one, but the second was so damn tough. The second boss in particular was a nightmare.

First I was nostalgic for Scramble, then I remembered how much money I piled into it without reaching the end and became angry. The cute neon retro graphics suddenly became annoyingly primitive, and finally I remembered that PixelJunk make fun games and am happy again.
I'm exhausted from that emotional roller-coaster.

Hmm... for a company who always puts out incredibly unique titles, this looks a heck of a lot like their last one.
Surely it's on the same game engine... I don't even think they're trying to hide it.. Isn't that boss character basically the underground monster from Shooter 1 and 2?
I wonder if they're working on something else on the side... or perhaps this was the side project.

As a huge fan of the PixelJunk games, I'm slightly disappointed in the apparent recycling of assets from PixelJunk Shooter. The ships, the missile-firing enemies, the water, the lava --- all look like graphically remixed, neon versions of their counterparts from Shooter.
If this was marketed as "PixelJunk Shooter Remix" or something similar, I'd have no problem, as Shooter (1 and 2) are excellent. But to market it as a new game using old assets simply strikes an off chord.
What say you, gentlemen?

Looks more R-Type inspired than Gradius-inspired.

This is not pixel junk 1-5. It's 1-4b. I think it might be part of the same story arc from PJ Shooter, so it makes sense that it looks the same. I think they are just playing off of the side scrolling level from PJS2 into a whole game.

If you own a PS3 and you don't play the pixeljunk games, you're doing something wrong.
