XBLIG's Brand looks to be a cut above

We know it's hard out there for Xbox Live Indie Game developers, so we like to do our part by highlighting the grains of wheat in a proverbial sea of chaff. In that spirit, we're slicing off a first look at the 2.5D sword-centric action of Brand, coming to XBLIG from Nine Dots.

Intrigued? Yeah, we thought so. Look for it next month for 240 MS points.

Umm, is this a 2.5 Metroidvania for 240 MS points? Yes, I will buy this day one.

Well the price is certainly right, although the description on the developer's page doesn't make it sound like the game has much depth beyond slashing up hordes of monsters in three different settings. Still, impressive for an XBLIG title.

That is really sweet, I'm glad to see the XBLIG catalog of games grow so rich. Each time I see a joystiq article about an upcoming XBLIG I come out impressed.

No longer is it is seeing some clunky half hearted mario clone or a massager/vibrator clone being publicized on a weekly basis.

Yeah, I've spent quite a few points on indie games lately. I'm glad Joystiq is putting the spotlight on some of the gems.

The environments really remind me of Y's 3.

Looks pretty good for a xbox inde game.

I love Metroidvania titles but this looks boring. Either that or the trailer wasn't done well. I'd rather go back through Shadow Complex, or Metroid Fusion, or Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, etc.

I'll get this just to support the developer. I'm not a massive fan of the genre itself but compared to most of the crap on XBLIG this really does look outstanding.

This looks extremely impressive visually. I will have to check it out.
