Robocop avatar items are part Avatar, part machine, all cop

We're always vaguely shocked when something genuinely awesome happens on the Avatar Marketplace, since the very idea of paying for promotional items for the little you on your Dashboard seems to negate awesomeness.

But there it is. Robocop avatar items, promoting nothing, apropos of nothing and available, as far as we can tell, just in case people want Robocop suits, OCP t-shirts, or little ED-209 pets. Something about the randomness of it -- "hey, here's Avatar stuff from that one movie from 1987!" -- is appealing.

Something else appealing about this: the trailer above was actually a contest-winning fan creation, by Giant Bomb user MoleyUK. The gear will be out August 25.

I never buy avatar stuff... I think that might change now. If not the RoboCop suit at the very least the ED-209 pet for me

It was alright. Wasn't as good as 1 and 2 though.

Probably because robocop is being Remade

I guarantee you this isn't "for no reason". The cynic in me says that this is probably some sort of marketing research phishing for interest in a Robocop updated remake. The script is probably being shopped around right now by Miramax or Columbua Pictures.
Just watch, before the holidays hit, Target or Hot Topic will be selling "retro-styled" Robocop t-shirts.
And YouTube clips from the original movie will somehow shoot up the charts in popularity for "no apparent reason"...

Hard to deny the awesomeness of robocop fatigues - that classic styling and ridged symmetry harken back to a simpler time of awesome action movies. Certainly deserving of the awesomeness seal of approval.
