The first game had plenty of customization, an interesting concept, deep combat (but slow) and the ability to craft your own character to exist along side the main characters as well as play online with others much like the much beloved Phantasy Star online and Monster Hunter games. Really the only thing that made it below expectations was that we waited so long for it that expectations were overblown to begin with.

Still for people that never played it you cant go wrong getting to fair games for the price of one.

@PN04 Don't forget the new game +, which let you try different builds for your character and the online co-op missions with your friends!

The game was good, but my god... I can't stand the multiplayer, if only because of one reason.

The god-dang Guild Rank system. From 1-7 it wasn't all that bad. Then just to go from 7 to 8, required you to grind out more points than it took to go from 1 to 7 all together. And the trend seems to continue. I really hope they lessened that part of the grinding, because honestly... I am NOT doing 1 mission for 9 hours just to hit the next rank.

@DevilSei

I agree. I enjoyed the MP for several months then realized the amount of time required was absurd. I'd love to see how many people actually Platinum'd the game.

I'm willing to bet a very small number. While the trophy to hit GR-12 was the last of that type, in order to get ANYWHERE near platinum, you'd have to max out your Guild Rank at 15, then grind out a bunch of the rarer item sets. One of the last trophies you'd ever get (according to the many guides I looked through) would be the money one.

The lack of JRPGs this generation caused me to get WKC on Day1. The SP portion was mediocre at best but the MP kept me playing for a couple months. I can't believe this was made by Level5.

Their wrapping it up in the second game? It must of blew its wad in Nippon with the first game to sputter out so quickly~

Much like Xenosaga deciding to FUBAR up the second game with LESS designed anime influenced drawn characters, this game must of popped some OFF button overseas~

@EEdocSnitthu There's actually a third White Knight Chronicles game. It's for the PSP and it's called White Knight Chronicles Origins. I own it and I've played a bit of it. From the little time I've spent with it, I have to say that it's almost an action RPG because of how fast the commands that you give your character play out. The game is in English, but it never came to the US. But if you're interested, the PSP is region free and the game really isn't all that expensive. I bought mine for around $35 or so.

@FinalFantasyXIIIsucks Where did you buy it? Is it the ASIA version or JAP? I'm really interested in the origins game.

I'm glad this one's finally making it's way over here. I remember the nearly two year long wait for the first game to come to the US, so I'm happy that the second one didn't need to take nearly that long.

The big problem with the first game was the freaking end...where it ended should've at most been 2/3 of a game but i feel like it was about half a games story.

I wonder if my game save from the first game will be compatible with the first game on the new disc. Also curious if the change of publisher changes anything... (actually if there's a server issue maybe that's might be why they're including the first game?)

@PN04 i theory it does BUT i have American copy of first game and eu of second so save transfer do not work. and one thing you don't get to keep your skills and levels above 30. you keep only your gear and have to distribute level points again.

I really wanted to like the original, but I really found the battle system to be kind of tedious... setting up a menu of attacks, choosing them while running around... I wish there was some better way to do it.

The combat is kinda like a play on those systems like Xenogears or Megaman X command mission where you can have a tree of attacks and create your own custom combos. If you dont want to do all that you dont have to and can just use the stock combos.

Do not want, as long as enemies can still attack you without actually making physical contact. After awesome action RPG's like Dark Cloud 2 and Rogue Galaxy, why Level 5 tried to make some bastardized MMO knockoff is beyond me.
