Epic Mickey 2 is running the rounds of Disney online-marketing tests, complete with box-art and title variations, according to an anonymous source at Destructoid. Disney is apparently getting a feel for the Epic Mickey 2 audience, asking which of the above box arts is most pleasing and which of the following titles most inspires test-takers to open their wallets: Epic Mickey 2: Return of the Mad Doctor, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, Epic Mickey 2: Mystery on Mean Street or simply Epic Mickey 2.
The prototype game Disney is marketing features two-player split screen with Mickey and Disney's first cartoon star, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, who uses his ears to fly like a helicopter. Mickey and Oswald are thrown back into the annals of Disney classicism, armed with paint and thinner, just as in the previous title. We can't help but imagine what the box art would be if Don Draper was working on this project -- Mickey painting the town with a bottle of whiskey, Minnie in a bikini on one arm and a new title, Simply Mickey.

Warren Spector had all these grand, Molyneaux-esque ideas for Epic Mickey, but in the end, it was a drab, un-fun Banjo Kazooie clone. Things like the "ultra serious morality system" really didn't pan out, and were more of chore than an original mechanic.
If it's anything like the first one: pass.

@Magnalon I'd kill for a proper Banjo-Kazooie 3.

I'd vote for the second boxart. And honestly, barring the sometimes frustrating camera, Epic Mickey was a really fun game. Definitely one of the better ones on the Wii.

Epic Mickey had such great concept art. It's such a shame that that vision couldn't even come close to being realized on the Wii.
If Epic Mickey 2 ends up being Wii exclusive again, it may as well not even exist.

Hahaha, people and their kindergarden behaviour, you got downvoted for saying something perfectly logical. I think that fanboyism has been like racism here in Europe, we have to bash every kind of opinion expressing even the slightest unliking towards something, not to mention pampering every fruitcake, pervert or criminal behaviour. Which all three apply to developing an exclusive for Wii.

During a particular playthrough of Epic Mickey I was trying to platform across a high mountain. Unexpectedly, the camera suddenly floated out and around, positioning itself exactly where I would have placed it. I almost cheered. Then I realized that I shouldn't be cheering for the f*cking camera to do its job. Epic Mickey could have been a really great game, but the frustration of always fighting the goddamn camera eventually won out in the end.

Because the boxart and sequel subtitle is EXACTLY the sort of information we should be scrambling to get out of focus groups right now
How about, oh, I don't know, you create a kickass game and narrative and THEN toss around ideas for boxart and what to call it?

Didn't get to play it. After they said the concept art had little to do with the game all interest was lost.

I enjoyed the idea of Epic Mickey, but the Wii's lack of processing power held back what could have been fantastic. I'd dig a sequel, especially if it actually lives up to the expectations we had for it. Hell, re-make the first game for PS3 and 360 with more polish, and it'd be a fine game.

The problem with Epic Mickey wasn't that it was on the Wii, It was that it simply wasn't Epic... being on the Xbox or PSX wouldn't have changed that.
The games problem is it started out as a huge concept and they failed to deliver. A lackluster game will still be a lackluster game in HD .....

Nah, if you played the game you would have seen that the graphics are actually pretty spectacular, Wii game or not. In my opinion, what held this game back was everything else.
The gameplay was pretty uninspired and kind of boring actually; enemies were hardly a threat regardless if you used the paint, thinner, or just ran past them.
The most infuriating part about it was the "mission" system. Different characters would have different missions for you, but there was no easy way of telling how many missions you were trying to accomplish at any given time, or how far along you were. Not only that, but the platforming just wasn't that fun.
I had huge expectations for this game, one of my favorites was the Magical Quest for the SNES. But even if they did port it and the game looked that much better, it would still be the same blandness underneath.

But you see if it's on the PS3/360 it fixes all problems! Like how NMH PS3 port fixed all the problems with the Wii version. Wait, it didn't? BUT THEY'RE HD CONSOLES! Atleast it sold more then the Wii, since about 500k people said they'd buy it if it was on PS3. Wait, what's that? It sold poorly on the PS3 aswell? BUT IT'S IN HD! WITH TROPHIES!

I agree. I still enjoyed "Epic Mickey" for what it was. Was it as groundbreaking as a Mario or Banjo? No, but it was still a fun game to play and I'm a guy in my 30s who has owned almost every major system since Atari.
I really wished it was on the 360, though. The Wii was fine when it first came out, but those achievements really do add some kind of accomplishment and I would have liked the upgraded graphics.

And the point I was making was that these people seem to cry about it basically being on the Wii but then when they do port the game no one buys it.
Also not trolling, more so being sarcastic.

All they have to do is port it to PS3, slap a $40 price tag, and trophies. I'd buy it in a second.
Doesnt even in need to be HD-izied or anything.
(NOTE: Yes I like trophies, no I dont care if you hate them.)

true, and i have stopped trying to make people see that. it's as fighting corrupt US laws. it doesn't matter what you or anybody else thinks, in their own minds your wrong and they're right. no matter what you say, in their minds, your wrong and they're right. that's why i stopped. because we're just fighting a losing battle. anyone may downvote me if they wish but, speaking as one human being to another human being, that's personally how i see it unless someone comes along and changes that. I'm just done with it. i'd rather just play the games i enjoy and live life how i see fit, rather then sit here and try to help everyone see the error of their ways. i know it sounds like I'm giving up but......well......what can i say. I'm only human and so are you. just.........don't stress yourself with this to hard, OK?
