Report: Famitsu leak says Persona 4 coming to Vita
62
The Playstation 2's swan song, Persona 4, will reportedly be receiving a fairly hefty re-release on the PS Vita, according to Andriasang's recent leak of an upcoming issue of Famitsu. The massive RPG was well-received in the console's twilight months, and will only be massiver once its hits Sony's new handheld (under the subtitle The Golden). The site reports the version will include a new character named Mary, additional voice overs and some kind of wireless functionality that lets online friends help you out in a pickle.
The magazine also reportedly announces Persona 4: The Ultimate In Mayonaka Arena, a fighter designed by BlazBlue creator Arc System Works for Xbox 360 and PS3. The title will let you brawl as select characters from Personas 3 and 4, and has a new storyline which follows the events of the latter game. Given the lineage of the developer and franchise, we assume that it's going to be absolutely bananas.
Update: Famitsu has posted its full report on the games to its website. Go check it out for more details!

Yeah I'd like a new SMT. Though strange Journey didn't come out too long ago, nor did Devil Survivor. Also, Devil Survivor 2 comes out in Nov.

This. I love Persona (hell, I even waded through the Innocent Sin import back when it came out because I loved #1 so much), but it's about time we seen a new SMT. No spin-offs, as good as they may be, but a pure SMT.
This console generation desperately needs a Nocturne-caliber JRPG.

Well they rescinded Strange Journey's legitimacy as a main entry right before it was released (as far as I remember), but it is indeed a damned fine game.
I'd just like to have a new SMT on consoles. I'll undoubtedly buy this stuff, because I always do, but constant remakes and fighting game spin-offs are a little disconcerting when we're all starving for a good console JRPG.

Personally I'd like more DS/ 3DS games. I'd like to have the RPG goodyness on the go. As for this PSV version? So far sounds uninteresting. It just sounds like P3P which didn't really change anything other then make the game portable, female lead, and you could control people like in P4.
As for the fighter, I'm not too happy about it. I'm actually upset Atlus seems to content on milking the Persona series. Hell with the Persona 4 anime come out soon (or it's out now I forget which) and then this fighter spin off it just seems like a milking. I'm sure they has to deal with P3/4 selling more then the rest of their games (including the ones that came out after P3 and P4). So,like any company they want money. And since Kaneko takes forever with his work because he cares deeply about the SMT games he does (very obvious with DDS) you'll more then likely see the Persona team churn out a few more games before the next Kaneko title.
Personally Persona is the least favorite of mine for all the SMT spin offs (DDS being the best). But I'm with you. I want something other then Persona on the consoles. I loved Strange Journey, but I wish people would stop forgetting about it (or Devil Survivor). I'd actually like a new spin off from Kaneko, personally.

I was really hoping they would rerelease it for the PSP, but I got tired of waiting so I just borrowed it from a friend and am playing through it right now.
Amazing amazing game. Sadly, I have no intentions on buying a Vita for a long time. :\

So it's like a cross between Persona 3 FES and Persona 3 Portable by the sounds of it except it's likely that they won't need to get rid of anime cutscenes and the exploring of the town like with P3P.

Wait so P4 with a new character (more then likely a main char female alt) and the abilioty to team up with friends? Eh, if they added a new story like FES did I'd jump on it. However the fighter sounds interesting.

I'm kind of curious to see if the fighter takes a page from Arcana Heart's mechanics-- where characters are independent of their movesets via a dual-selection system, represented in this case by the Personas. That may be the most likely scenario, unless Arc goes in more of a Dissidia direction with it.
And of course there was going to be a Persona 4 Portable, though like other folks I'm not entirely sure it'll be a Vita-seller-- not by itself, anyway.

I hope they take the Arcana (Persona) selection system witha mixture of fighting style like Guilty Gear.

heres an idea
release persona 3 +fes and persona 4 as psn/xbla titles (if you wanted to also do persona 1 and 2 maybe hd collection like metal gear?) then release persona 5 on PS3 and 360 like you did catherine for great success.

How dare I what? I don't want another handheld, but if I see enough reasons(good games) I might have to reconsider.

I really don't know what to think about a P3/4 fighting game. That's not how I want to digest my Persona narrative.
And yes, the more P5 news, the better.

Yep, let the porting commence. I just hope the Vita doesn't go down the same path the PSP went with PS2 ports and squished down console-worthy titles.

It's because you are a Nintendo fanboy who doesn't like anything without simple cartoon characters and sing along stories.

Wow, you act as if I set fire to your dog. What's your problem? You don't know me. Calling me a fanboy of any kind is pure ignorance and idiocy. I think it is very clear from my post history that if I am a fanboy, it's a fanboy of video games. I may play my 360 more than my Wii or PS3 and my 3DS and DS are my handhelds of choice, but I just love games. I stated I couldn't get into Persona. So the hell what.

Oh man this is great news I'm down for all of it.
I bought Persona 4 but never played it on PS2 so a portable release is awesome. Since a P3P is the persona 3 I actually beat.
It's still nice having the PS2 version in my collection though.

I now have a reason to buy a Vita. Not that it didn't look good before, but this has just pushed it into the realm of "Oh yeah, I could justify that to my bank account"

I've always wanted to try the Persona series. Now, along with the Little King's Story sequel, I may splash out on a Vita, eventually.
