3DS Ambassadors: Clear your schedules.

Remember how you planned to spend all day tomorrow indulging in your free copies of Metroid, Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link, Yoshi's Egg, Mario Open Golf, Wrecking Crew, Super Mario Bros., Balloon Fight, The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong Jr. and Ice Climber? Well, go tell your daughter that plans have changed and you can, in fact, make it to her Thursday ballet recital. Those games are available today for some unknown reason and, yes, you still have to go through that crazy method to get them, with one tweak: You'll find the game in "Your Downloads" not "Activity History."

Also, by "spend all day indulging," did you mean "play Zelda for five minutes and promptly return your system to the 3DS-shaped imprint on a dusty shelf"? Because that's what we meant.

BTW, Not nearly as difficult to acquire compared to getting my free games from Sony after the PSN outage

In this day and age, if it's not an INSTANT update sent to your machine while you sleep, the update is "complex".

To be fair, this *is* pretty unituitive. While it pisses me off that iTunes or Flash Player try to update automatically every 5 minutes, burying your system updates as deep as the 3DS does is kind of ridiculous, especially since it's made by a company that tends to market to kids and tech n00b parents. I mean, even the Wii glowed blue when it was time to update.

@shinjix2 WAT? i took me almost no time to get free stuff i just dropped in to PSN store and clicked on welcome back program and deal was done easy as π

Which should tell you how easy it was to download the Ambassador games this morning. Not sure why but Joystiq is injecting a little TOO much commentary in their news articles

They give you a spot pass notification and then tell you to update or how to do it.

@baby sea tuna 3DS downloads firmware updates automatically. Doesn't get any simpler than that.

Yeah it can even download it from other 3DS' through street pass.

@baby sea tuna You haven't HAD to do that. You can, but if you just leave it on in sleep mode it will download it eventually.

@shinjix2 You should see the original Destructoid article. It is dripping with venom by comparison.

Both implementations are unintuitive but the 3DS is only a slightly bigger pain because you have to do it 10 times.

Agreed! I'm not a big fan of 3D but man the 3DS is a nice system! It goes everywhere with me just like my music player and alcohol.

Yeah same here. I mean we might not have much 3DS software to play but it's STILL a DS. I'm currently making my way through DQIX and awaiting Alien: Infestation.

I haven't used my pspgo since I bought it and charged it to see if it worked. (it's dead now) I only got it to play snes games on the go but I never do.

I use mine every day as well. In fact I'm more then willing to say I'm using my 3DS more then I used my Original DS the first year it came out.

I'm going to play these NES games for about 10 minutes each probably realizing their alright and putting my 3DS back on my plastic dock for a while.

While I don't like the extremely negative comment at the end of the article (was that REALLY necessary? Also wanna talk about dusting off the Wii while you're at it?), in Joystiq's defense, it is a blog and NOT a news site. They never tried to be "unbiased" (though, everyone has their own bias in one form or another).

I'm not acting like I've never been defensive about Sony getting poked at because I'm providing context and clarification to someone else confusing this for a news outlet. I'm simply clarifying that if all you wants is news this isn't the type of place for you to go to. This is a blog and as such the entire purpose of its existence is to give commentary on the news that engages discussion.

I honestly think its hilarious everyone pulled out the old torches and pitchforks over that little comment and saying the process is complicated. How absurd is it that people are getting upset at the mere mention that the process to redeem your ambassador games is complicated?

I don't let any of this stuff bother me. It's all in good fun and Joystiq is way nicer than any other gaming blog out there when it comes to this stuff. I was just commenting on the fact that you asked why everyone was uptight about it when you've been perturbed by something written here before and felt the need to post something in defense.

I do agree though, people need to relax. Joystiq is clearly just poking fun when they say they would play Zelda for 10 minutes and then never touch it again here, but in another article they will say how they'll play it for 10 hours. They're just little jabs here and there and they do it to Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft equally.

Reminds me of an episode of Mr. Show where they had people acting like putting mustard and mayonnaise on a sandwich was the hardest task they ever performed so they combined the mustard and mayo together and life got so easy.
