Sony has confirmed prices and dates for its two PlayStation certified tablet computers, both coming out later this fall. The Tablet S is the more traditional tablet, with one screen and 16 or 32GB of storage, and will be out in September starting at $499. But the Tablet P is the more interesting option, offering two 5.5" display screens hinged together. Both tablets will use the Nvidia Tegra 2 chip architecture, sport dual cameras, and run Android-based software.
They'll also be fully compatible with Sony's services, including Video Unlimited and Music Unlimited, and they'll both play games from the Android Marketplace as well as run PSOne titles released for PlayStation-certified hardware. Both will come standard with Pinball Heroes and Crash Bandicoot ready to go, though the P will put controls on the bottom screen, leaving gameplay up on top.
The Tablet P will hit European shelves in November – North American details haven't been announced just yet. You can get a closer look at both devices in the gallery below and head over to Engadget for hands-on impressions of the Tablet S.
Sony shares price and details on PlayStation certified Tablets S and P, coming later this year

Apple didn't invent fire. They merely took a stick and pushed it into a burning tree, then took that stick and sold it.
Apple weren't the first to create a tablet. People aren't copying Apple, just trying to get into the market inflation that Apple have caused. Tablets existed before Apple but weren't marketed as well as the iPad.

Apple's hardware was great the first two models. Now? Get serious. They don't do anything but incrementally upgrade the guts a tiny step every year. It's all the same static design. I've grown quite sick of it outside of the MBP setting which I still enjoy quite a bit.
It would be nice if they would dare to change things up, but there's good reason why they won't right now. As long as their iJunk is on top there's no need to create something that would confuse the mindless drones that jumped on the bandwagon.
*Note: You might not be a mindless drone if you bought your Apple device for its features and not its popularity. Proceed to unbunch your delicate panties. The rest of you, yeah I'm talking to you!
*Double Note: The rest of you, chillax (right!?) I can't fault you for wanting a stable and cohesive experience. That android stuff out there is shaky at best if you don't like playing a treasure hunt for competent apps
*Triple Note: Awww.... forget it.

Actually, the popularity of the ipod/iphone/ipad is a great reason to buy one. Ubiquity = software support.
Look at the NDS. It wasn't just inferior to the PSP hardware-wise, it was VASTLY inferior. But because so many people own one, it has a ton of software.

Wonder will it have an Android OS or will the only app store be a Playstation specific store. If it was Android, it'd definitely help compete against the iPad.

Can anyone with an android tablet tell me if you can disable the three software buttons on the bottom edge of the screen?
I can't imagine trying to play a game on a device that had a pressure free home button sitting on the screen right near the edges, like where hands would go.

they will probably be running some proprietary version of Android that will most likely disable said buttons (at least when ps1 games are being played)
However much like N64 titles on the 3DS ..... old ports of games are not going to entice me to shell out for new hardware.

What a waste of Tegra 2. It can do impressive stuff, but what the hell is Sony bothering with it for? They're doubtless going to gimp the implementation so that it doesn't compete with the Vita.

I had a rooted GTab and all that nice hardware underneath it was useless outside of a few crappy games. I mainly got it for video playback and it sucked. Big time.
Default firmware - craptastic as expected (also only place for full hardware support)
Gingerbread with partial hardware iffy
Honeycomb, didn't even bother as its severely gimped on hardware playback.
Basically, I couldn't find an android media player worth anything. I tried RockPlayer, MoboPlayer and one other I can't think of. All of them were meh. (If you guys have better ones in mind, speak up - please)
The truly sad part was that I had an Archos 5 IT that I hated android-wise but it turns out its video player is the best I've found on android devices. A damn shame since Android is supposed to be about selection of software. Too bad the quality part is out.
No, I don't have an iPad or want one, but I'm just sick of being burned by Android tablets that can't do basic video well when it dares to be encoded well.
I'm going to switch to a refurb nook color and see how that goes (at least the screen will be awesome). But seriously, they need to stop focusing on bloated 10" tablets and get some decent 7" ones out.
That or create a 10" tablet that has a killer OS that doesn't cripple Android and compel the user to root it. No one likes to mention how rooting your tablet gimps it more often than not due to drivers not being shared.
/end of what wasn't supposed to turn into a rant....

I actually loved the original Xbox, but after three video cards fried on my 360s, I'll stick with Nintendo and Sony, so no to your statement, nice try though.
I don't proclaim Sony to be the end all of gaming consoles like croc does with MS.
And I don't fanboy it up on 360 post, so again your point( if any) is moot.
