In other news, the Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall turned the ole 15 today.

The game Bethesda claimed is twice the size of Great Britain, with around 487,000 square kilometers. The game Bethesda also claimed that the world had over 15,000 towns, cities, villages, and dungeons for the player's character to explore.

You can have a hard time believing it, but it's true. Daggerfall is the single most massive game landspace ever created to this day. Bethesda has actually run this experiment and others have verified it:

Start from one corner of the map, turn on auto run and try to make it to the opposite corner of the world map. It takes just under two weeks of REAL TIME.

Considering almost every RPG Ive played has had an infinite money/exp bug Ive always figured those were intentionally left in if not put in on purpose. So its not surprising they try fixing every bug they find.

Okay, as long as the glitches aren't game breaking, I don't care.

When I played Oblivion, I ran into some glitches, but nothing too bad. Then I played Fallout 3, full of crashing and constant glitches that ruined the game for me.

I hope to god Skyrim isn't like that. I don't care how big the game is, games this day and age shouldn't be shipped so poorly.

This day and age? I'm not sure if you've noticed, but it's only been getting worse. It's become increasingly "ok" to ship with game breaking bugs that will get patched "eventually".

Next year will be 2012? What's this have to do with anything? It's not like computers are becoming simpler, or some brand new "never crash" technology has appeared...

I really have no idea where you're coming from on this. I was promised flying cars back in 1980. Where are the flying cars?!

@Xoonaka To put it simply, games shouldn't have game breaking bugs, glitches or crashes.

They've made plently of games before and should have learned from those mistakes.

I understand that every game has problems, but they shouldn't be too severe.

Bethesda tried to make fallout3 the most advanced game to date and the consoles couldn't keep up. Its not Bethesda's fault its Sony and Microsoft's fault.

So i guess you didn't play it on the computer and that's why your complaining.

@SKYRIM111111 I don't think you played on PC either, considering it has many crashing and game breaking bugs on it too. The only difference was people release patches constantly for PC.

And no, it's not Sony and MS fault. I played days worth of time and my friend has 95 days into Oblivion without any crashing. That's a pretty big game too, it's possible to make a big game without it crashing many times.

@jsx92 Maybe you should learn not to be such an ignorant ass?

I'm paying the company $60 for the disc and more for the DLC for them to do THEIR JOBS. Not mine, THEIRS. They should be coding the game so when I walk into a building the game doesn't crashes and I can never go into it again, unless I revert through hours of saves before or restart. Which is what happened to me multiple times in Fallout 3.

Fixing the game isn't my job, I pay the devs to do that.

Then again, maybe you're right. It's okay to make broken games, release them and not fix them. You could be right that I should be coding /making the game too.... Although in my opinion, it doesn't make any sense for me to do that.

I've always enjoyed bugs and glitches to a certain extent. Obviously not crashing bugs, but weird graphical issues can give games a unique charm and create some unintentionally funny situations.

There isn't an online component, or MMORPG, because ZeniMax Online is working on Elder Scrolls Online. Bethesda concentrates on the single player aspect.

They couldn't say that since ES Online hasn't even been officially announced but that's the real answer.

happy that they are going to take their time with the DLC and make them more meaty. As for the Glitches; I know what I'm going to expect but won't let them deter from the experience.

There will be a time where we all will be cornered with our life dwindling as we await the final blow to finish us off only to our surprise; the enemy will be snagged onto the environment to where we look to the sky and say "thank you Bethesda"

Adding DLC = more money

Fixing bugs = not more money.

I'm sure there are some staff in Bethesda that would prefer to fix, but as a company they are usually looking to make more money.

Being one of those who didn't play the previous ES games as they came out, I think I'll be waiting for inevitable collection/gold/GOTY/complete edition of this, but I will play it eventually. Once I've mastered time and can just play as long as I want without the world passing me by.

Dear Game Developers,

Thank you for informing me that you have already developed a DLC release strategy before your game has even shipped. I will not hesitate to purchase your GOTY edition when it is on sale for $29.99 in two years. It will be a bug free/reduced version of your game and contain all of the DLC that you are so proud of.

I admire your attempts to milk me and my fellow gamers for money, but I do not need your game immediately upon release. By the time your final DLC comes out, many will have moved on from your game, yet you will still charge $9.99 for it to make a few people believe your game is still relevant. Shortly thereafter, you will release the GOTY edition as one final attempt to keep your head above water.

It is at this point that I will save you oh wonderful Game Developer. While you are desperately gasping for air and giving me the game and all its content for 1/4 of the over $100.00 that I would have originally spent, I will graciously pull you from the water. It is too bad that with every new release, you still drown yourself by focusing on poor marketing strategies targeted at how much money you can get out of gamers after their initial investment. Instead, the concern should be about how much a gamer can get from you to warrant an investment in the first place. Please Game Developer, when will you ever learn to swim.

The worst part is that money, which may have been originally allocated for development and bug testing to provide a gamer with the richest game experience possible at release, is now being used to fund DLC teams. Rather than supporting these DLC teams with money from profitable release sales, funds are instead being diverted from supporting and testing original/intended content. This provides us with a lesser game upon release and makes all gamers bug testers. It is probably why there are so many patches within the first week of a game's release. This was almost unheard of before DLC existed.

We all want you play your games, Game Developers. But please respect us and treat us like we are your premium customers, and not like you are the Premium Developers with shiny premium content to dangle in our faces. I can save my "ooohh's" and "aahhh's" if it means I'm going to be rewarded with a cheaper game and all of it's intended content if I wait two years. I have my girlfriend to make me "ooohh" and "aahh" in the meantime.

Love,
Me and Gamers
