I watched the Giant Bomb quicklook of this and it looked horrible. Really lines up with what you said here. I downloaded the demo but didn't even install it...glad I didn't.

To be fair, Bodycount is quite the horrid shovelware that's being sold as a premium game at $59.99 MSRP. Even at $10, you'd still be overpaying.

Thanks for the review. Saving my money for BF3 and MW3. I wasn't impressed with the demo at all. Maybe it was my eyes or brain, but the game made me nauseous. If I cranked down the sensitivity, then it became impossible to do any combat. If I cranked up the sensitivity, then I felt like puking. (No similar problems with the other shooters I'm playing now so I'm blaming it on the game.)

Utterly abysmal. I played the demo and was instantly turned off. Everything about it just felt wrong.

Wait...couldn't that review tagline describe 95% of the FPS genre as it is now?

Either way, this looked terrible. Looks and feels like a budget title and definitely not worth the standard price. I see price drops very quickly, and lots of used copies.

Ai, level design and variety tend to keep those games fresh. This one doesn't seem to have that.

Say what you will about FPS games, at least the majority try to string together some semblance of story, even if they're bad.

After having played d the demo for this, I wasn't feeling it. I was hoping for something at least reminiscent of BLACK, but this is not it. I wonder if this is why Stuart Black left or if this happened after he was already gone.

Well, you were certainly more gentle on it than Ben Kuchera from arstechnica, but the result is pretty much the same - do not buy.

Kuchera's about as gentle in reviews as a starving wolverine with rabies.

No wonder they cancelled the PC version of the game.

No one would have bought it and it would dropped to 5 bucks in less than a week.

They should have released this a while ago during the summer slump. Maybe then people would have been hungry enough for something new that they would have tried this out in desperation. We just had Deus Ex launch and all the big games are right around the corner - we're heading into AAA territory. There's no need for this...

I played the Demo and the cover system ruined it for me. It would have been fun but the whole "use the same button to aim down the sights and lean and peak" was a terrible idea. If they had just made the cover system similar to Killzone 3 or even Medal of Honor it would have been passable. At least in my opinion.

@APCMice Totally agree. I can't even begin to imagination what the person who implemented these controls was thinking. The demo was horrendous and that's really all I needed to know about this clunker.

Incidentally, the over-thought "lean from cover" bit mystifies me the same way the chest-high walls in Bulletstorm do. If you're trying to make a "simple stupid shooter," like Doom or Serious Sam, why in the world do you bother with cover systems and iron sights? That's the complete opposite of run-and-gun.

@subby socks No no, skip it. Entirely. I mean honestly. If you want a mindless shooter of questionable quality go with DNF, if you want something of higher calibre go with Serious Sam 3 or maybe Hard Reset - both are cheaper and coming out soon.

If you're a console player, well, you should still skip it.

@KiraXD I agree so hard, I tried to like it. It was just so clunky, slow and terrible. It didn't feel good at all, no redeeming qualities except that your gun floats and reloads itself...

Because that was kind of cool... right?

I was really hoping to like this game ( not a day 1 buy anyways ) i can see this game going in the Bargain Bin in the Months to Come... that is when i will buy it ! Cause IMO it was O.K i found the Demo hard but it was O.K i played worse. so I'll buy it when it's cheap.... REAL CHEAP.

There's my review.

I'm glad they had released a demo before this came out cuz I might have blindly bought this. I usually don't judge games by a demo but this was so generic I didn't even finish the demo. I had such high hopes for this and Brink as these had great potential to be awesome. Hopefully I don't strikeout with Dead Island or else I'm just sticking with the well known franchises this year.

I just rented it through gamefly played it last night it's definitely not worth 60 dollars maybe 15-20 dollars in a bargain bin which it will probably be heading to soon. I think the shooting controls are good and the shredding is okay but, the enemies are morons like the review says and running back and forth to open up terminals does get very annoying I haven't tried the MP modes yet I wonder if I can find a game I would give it 2.5 out of 5

I also played the demo of Bodycount. Never heard of the game so I was curious. The review is spot on though. Like the author I lost interest in the game quickly, but the guns do feel like they are meant to kill. I compare this to COD: Black Ops where many of the guns just don't have that powerful feeling to them.

I've been really surprised by all the reviewers over this game. They all seem to lose sight of what the game is going for. Every other shooter out there is a bogged down military shooter and people are complaining about this game by comparing it to them where it's just trying to be a retro corridor shooter. Nice to see a colour pallete more diverse than brown. The story is obviously not to be taken seriously so I don't get why people are seriously rating it. I agree it does fall short even on those basis but I still find that most reviewers have missed the point. I was interested in it due to it going back to the old days without being confused, slow and backwards like Bulletstorm.

Played this game through demo and it just made me want to put it in the trash. As i have said many time before a 30 dollar game at most. Tooo much crap on screen covering up the 15 plus bullet in each enemy kill. Candy >ss graphics, a waste of time for true gamers. Remember developers, adults have the money to buy these games, if we don't like them, then we will not buy them for the youngsters. This game sucks.

I'm honestly a little shocked it received two stars. The three or so minutes the demo stole from me were some of the worst I've played in ages. This wouldn't have been a serviceable FPS in the PS2 era.
