@Trogdorwhore What do expect by the biggest scumming scumbags ever? Only true suckers will pay gladly, even.

I stopped following the franchise at MW2. No Black Ops, no expensive useless DLCs and certainly no MW3. I got this game as I said, MW2. Why to repay it; let alone "Elite, Premium" and the like fancy crap.

If you're striving to be a competitive COD player, that is, a top player getting highest rank possible, entering tourneys, etc, then this would be a good deal. Personally I would go the casual route.

It's still not worth it, with Gamebattles and other Clan stat tracking sites, there really isn't a need for that support. All it really is just extra gimmicks that you probably use for 5-6 hours max.

agreed, i personally wouldn't do it (mainly because i only got to prestige 1 in Black Ops), but i do see the merit in it for a hardcore CoD player.

Yes, we all you know you don't have to pay to play on PS3. But we also don't go a month or two without online service.

Oh, and the PS3 Hardened Edition is the same price as 360, and we get the Elite free in that too. So, really, you save the cost of Live subscription. Last time I bought it I caught 1 year cards for $25. Bought 4 years worth. So, compared to me, you save $25.

Interesting thing to point out.

That kind of makes me sad to think the PS3 and PC versions would be that much cheaper to play even if you take Elite and the Hardened version out of the equation...

Wasn't trying to turn this into a console flamewar, just trying to save you guys a few bucks. Some people like myself have a 360 and PS3 (and a gaming PC!), so they may be deciding which version to get. Even if the price is $100, you still save $70.

You Mad that he or she pointed out that PSN users save money for not paying to play online by taking a shot at how PSN went down for a month or two ( i assume cause of the hackers cause let's face it i had a PS3 for a few years now and i never seen downtime like that )

yup U Mad Alright !

Nah, not mad. I own a 360, a PS3 (techincially two PS3's but one got the YLOD and I never got it fixed), and a mild gaming PC. I've got choices where I play. In the time I've owned the 360 and PS3 (both preordered launch consoles), there have been far more times my PS3 has been unable to connect to the online play. So, I walked to my 360 and played on there instead. Now, the PS3 is used for GT5 for me, and my kids play games on it. I don't bother playing any games on it if they are available for 360.

It is always the same thing over and over. PS3 fanboys throw out the "its free to play online here". For me it is more about the better online gaming environment (screaming 12 year olds notwithstanding). Yeah, I pay to play on Xbox Live. I have nothing but lag problems on PS3, and about 1/5th the issue on Xbox Live. Lag will never be escaped in any online play.

Owning all of the current gen consoles, including a PC and the handhelds, I really don't care about the whole console wars stuff, but I love hearing the "lag on PS3" statement. Maybe you need to upgrade your internet connection, because I've never had any more lag on PS3 than any other system I own. Maybe that's just because I don't skimp out on my connection, though. Who knows.

What I would like to know is the Monthly DLC 1 Month 360 exclusive? Because if it is that is BS because you would be paying for monthly content but have to wait to get it.

Ok, so lets do the math here folks:

Hardened Edition: 80 bucks maybe.

So that gets you a game, extra content, the Elite Card (50 dollar value) which also gives you free DLC for one year and access to contests and giveaways.

TOTALLY worth the extra 20 bucks for the Hardened edition IMO.

@DasMadHatter Frankly that's the only thing going for it right now, and assuming IW releases 2 map packs within that span, you at least save $10. I think the inclusion with the Hardened Edition is to to entice people into the service, cause outside the Hardened Edition, the subscription pricing is a joke, IW would have to belt out 4 map packs to make it worth while, and they haven't produced anything more than 2 map packs, Treyarch has been the ones that produce a crap ton of DLC for their games.

And then what? Your year is up, and you have to shell out $50 bucks to keep using those maps. $110 if you use Xbox and Xbox Live for your gold.

So, agreed that the price point, as a general rule of thumb, is way too high. However, for just 10 bucks extra with Hardened (most likely)? I think that's a pretty obvious win for people who choose that route, especially given future DLC.

I would never pay $50 for this separately but as a bonus for paying $20 extra for the hardened version? That's a pretty good deal, even if just for the DLC alone.

@TUROK1134 I'm not a MASSIVE fan, but the extra $20-$40 investment to upgrade to the Hardened is kinda sweetened by this deal. That being said I might have to do some hardcore money management if I want to get this, BF3 and MGS HD and Halo HD.

The only good thing that I suppose could come from this is you'll get free DLC for getting it (which will probably be the inevitable map packs). So if you're planning on getting the hardened edition or all the map packs, this might be worth it.

I'm not paying $15 for map packs and I don't want the hardened edition so I really couldn't care less about this.

Rundown of the premium:

1. You save around $10. Yay.

2. Most sweepstakes and competitions requires you to be 18 years of age or older. No 13 year old pricks allowed.

3. Pretty straightforward.

4. Youtube. Look it up.

5. Wikipedia/Wikia. Look it up.

6. Same as #4.

Now, didn't they say that to keep the content, you had to keep subscribing? So in other words, if you want to keep the content in one year, even if you got the hardened edition, you'd need to spoon out $50.

So what they are essentially trying to do is make the game sell for $110 ($60 base plus $50 membership) to keep you getting the new version of COD while retaining your old DLC otherwise if you stop, you lose it.

As a marketer, its pretty ingenious. You get enough people on the service and they will continue to subscribe. Can you imagine losing two or three games worth of DLC because you didn't pony up for the Elite membership?

@TheDetective To be clear, you do NOT have to re-subscribe to keep the downloaded DLC. Activision made it clear that any content downloaded under the subscription plan would stay playable, even if you discontinue the subscription. I didn't find a good way to include that in the post, but it's not like they're holding your content hostage.
