ESPN app crashing for some Xbox 360 users [update]

If the above image looks familiar, then you're having the same problem I am. Ever since that last update for the ESPN app on Xbox 360, I've been unable to access it. Attempting to boot up the app from the Dashboard has produced the above screen every time. Hitting any button then sends me back to the Dashboard.

Curious as to what was going on, we contacted Microsoft -- though we have yet to hear back. So we're going to do some lazy research, which basically means we're gonna toss a poll up. Have you encountered this same problem? Hit the jump and weigh in!

Update: Service is back up and running for most people, according to a Microsoft associate, who said, "ESPN on Xbox LIVE is up and running for the vast majority of our users. We're actively working to resolve a technical issue that is impacting service for a fraction of our user base."

According to number 3 it indeed can be, but K3ViNPwNz I'm guessing wasn't using that definition.

Yes I am experiencing this problem. I updated just this morning to try out the new features tonight and that screen is all I get.

I have searched online and so far there hasn't been a response from anyone, and it seems to have been happening ever since the last update.

Not working on PC streaming either. All my flashes are update, too.

I updated yesterday with no issues, my friend updated a week ago and it works for him too.

I don't use it, so I'm not sure if it's working. I don't think anyone uses it lol.

Although, there has been some LIVE issues today, according to Xbox's support page which slightly affected me.

I use the ESPN app quite a bit.

Mine didn't work the first time I tried it today. I restarted my Xbox, fired up ESPN, and it auto-downloaded an update. Everything is working fine now.

Poll needs an ESPN means nothing to me, option ^^

Yep, there are currently 23 different games available (but not working) from the past week alone. Some Spanish Liga games, Bundesliga, international beach soccer, and international friendlies/competition matches available just today for the FIFA date. They only show Premier League games live for the most part, due to the way those rights are sold.

it's working for me, had some problems with ESPN saying my ISP wasn't a provider of the full ESPN3 network, even though they are. I called ESPN about it, they didn't know. Called the ISP they didn't know. Ended up telling ISP I was canceling if it wasn't working by 7:00 pm for the College Football kickoff, and you know what? It was working then. lol Watched Wisconsin stomp the crap out of UNLV haha

Clearing my cache seemed to fix it. YMMV.

My ISP is one of those that doesn't get along with ESPN, so I just like clicking things.... on another note, how come there's not an option to view the results without voting (and skewing the results)?

We get less and pay more, if we dont get the UFC app...

I had this same problem when the new version was launched. I contacted Microsoft Support on Twitter, to resolve my problem.

They told me to delete the ESPN stuff from the memory, clear the hdd cache, and re-download the app.

I restarted my console after deleting cache, just to have a fresh restart.

And since then, I've watched split-screen high school football games. Can't wait until tomorrow, though.

If you have the old ESPN app downloaded, delete and redownload it.

I even did this with Halo Waypoint when they made the app smaller than before.

Xbox support tweeted a potential solution earlier today, signing out and signing back in. It just worked for me, and ESPN installed an update when I started it up.

Would love to have this problem but I'm stuck with Time Warner Cable so I don't get ESPN3 on the XBOX even though I get it on PC....a holes.

Works perfectly here.

Happened once when I first updated it, has worked fine since, though I hate the new layout.

While you are at it, can you please also ask MS when Time Warner Cable support is coming?

David, try deleting anything associated with ESPN and redownload the application. I understand that solves the problem for many people. It is working fine for me however.

I've been having the same problem, which is a shame because I really enjoy and appreciate this feature. Makes watching all the Grand Slams as easy as can be.

Something on the 360 failing? No WAY.
