Oh come on, "the latin derived Exterminatus". Do you really have to be a 40k nerd to know what an Exterminatus is?

Oh come on. Did I really take Latin in school to know this? Exterminatus is the passive perfect participle of exterminĊ which, in this case, means abolished or destroyed.

They didn't make the word up just for this game.

I had to Google it. The first dozen links were all to Warhammer 40K stuff, so yes, I would say being a 40K nerd helps.

I really wanted this game to succeed, but now, seems unlikely.

A week or so out before Gears 3, delayed coop, not to mention it's just a Horde mode tacked on?

Sorry THQ, too little too late IMHO.

Yes this game can't possibly succeed. You are way smarter than anyone gives you credit for. Again, kudos on your brilliance.

well i'm getting it day one simply because i love the 40K universe. yes, i suppose i fall into that 40K nerd category, but i swear i don't play with the miniatures....anymore :P i genuinely have faith in THQ. over the past few years they've given us the Dawn of War games, Darksiders, and Metro 2033. since Space Marine is also from Relic, and i enjoyed the demo, i doubt this game is going to disappoint me.

Gears is going to be the one that i wait to purchase, simply because i know it's not going anywhere, and i'll always be able to find a multiplayer game even 8 or so months after release when it can be found on the super cheap. :)

The transformation from tabletop wargame to third person shooter made me skeptical that this would be a quality title, but I was pretty pleasantly surprised by the demo. This still won't be a day one purchase for me, but I'll be looking for it during the Christmas sales for sure.

My GF dragged me out to Black Friday shopping two years ago.

No power on this Earth will cause that to happen again.

@EvilCartographer I work at a retail clothing store. I worked from 11 PM the night before to 8 AM on Black Friday. I had never been out on Black Friday. Why people would go out that early to shop is beyond me. The entire mall was packed. It was madness.

You have my utmost sympathies. I didn't think people still shopped at KMart till that day, much less stood in line just to get in. Deal or no deal, the stress isn't worth it.

You're name is, failing all else, fitting.

Though, in fairness, I'd say that my Mom would have preferred that since I didn't make it home for Christmas that year.

GameStop should have exclusive DLC that allows you to 'save' your 'progress'.

This game has three guys during the demo, I assumed it meant the whole game would be that way and with that I thought a coop campaign would be included... Dissapointing to say the least

I don't understand, is there a full campaign co-op included in the game by default or is this post release DLC the only co-op we will get?

Why wasn't the co-op in the retail package? Also, surprised they didn't charge $10 for it; nothing that wouldn't be standard practice this gen!

Reading the first sentence helps.

"Warhammer 40K: Space Marine may be pushing its meaty shoulders into retail this coming week, but its co-op mode won't arrive until "early October" says THQ."

@This Little Man Says His Name Is : actually its doesn't help at all, because he's really asking a rhetorical question that only the devs could answer. He just hoped somebody might have heard something.

From what I've read, it wasn't something they started working on until later in the game's development.

The versus stuff was their main focus as far as multiplayer is concerned.

What... I'm honestly astounded by how you even managed to get that from the first sentence.

It's quoting THQ saying that the co-op mode wont be coming until around early October. How in the world did you manage to construct that to mean he was asking a rhetorical question.

I love 40K, but I played the demo and it was one of the most intensely boring gaming experience of my life. What a shame.

Two quick things:
1) I don't see how being gay somehow limits your ability to be a badass. That's just dumb.

2) I double dog dare you to call one of the Emperor's Children gay.

In my experience, coop is the most popular mode for shooters next to team deathmatch. By "popular" I mean with the majority of players, who are often not the ones who have the most time to spend playing.

F**k, I bet the developers just read my post.

I am actually curious about this game. This is one of the only Warhammers on consoles, right? Is it any fun, and is any prior knowledge of the franchise needed to enjoy it?

It is fun and challenging, you will find much of it baffling if you have no knowledge of 40K lore.
Just refer to warhammer40k.wikia.com/ when you have a "what?" moment.
