Exact same enemies, exact same UI, exact same strategies, I've seen a lot of those set pieces before... oh look a different gun! Seriously, is this another one of those $60 Expansion Pack nightmares or something? I'm not really seeing anything to warrant a stand-alone price.

So basically exactly what it should be. I'll gladly hand over my money for a second edition to an absolutely fantastic franchise.

Um...No. There are a ton of new enemies, the existing enemies have been revamped so they have better AI and actually respond based on what you do, they've thrown out every old gun and put in new ones with new aesthetics and properties, the UI is similar but has been changed a bit to look and perform smoother, and there are entirely new locales. Sure, some visual elements are reused, but most of what they showed was new content.

@ShivanSwordsman There's a bunch of new guns that shoot and behave differently, there's 4 revamped classes, there's more of a story so far, the menu system is improved, there's a minimap (shoulda been in first game, but good that it's here now)....what more do you want?

oh and of course there will be similar set pieces, because THEY ARE STILL ON PANDORA. Did you miss the improvements with the art that he mentioned? You can see a ton of playable area from the top of that dam. There's even some new environments that they point out. What did you want, a completely different game that feels nothing like the first?

@ShivanSwordsman Oh, and did you forget to see the part with all the robotic enemies during this mission? They were showing just ONE missions with a distinct set of enemies that just so happened to also include awesome/funny enemies from the first game. I would have been pissed if there were no psychos or midgets in Borderlands 2.

@ShivanSwordsman

You're kidding right? If you are going to knock the game, you can at least learn stuff about it. The Gearbox pretty much covered every complaint that gamers had about the first game. Too much desert wasteland? The second game has water, islands, ice. The guns from different brands looked too similar? They are now alot more distinguishable from each other. I see more varied enemies, better AI, a more touched up GUI, and I sure as hell don't remember reinforcements rocketing in from the moon.

This isnt some regular fps, this is an rpg, The amount of playability added by making changes completely overshadows changes to a regular fps.

@ShivanSwordsman I gotta admit, I felt the same way as I was watching this video. It seems way too much like the 1st, it also seems like the guy who's talking is trying way too hard to make the game sound good lol. I was a huge fan of the 1st game though and bought it on release, so I really hope this game brings a lot of good, new stuff.

I bought the game when it came out for PC. $30 actually, my friend got me quite a deal on it when it was first released, from Gamestop no less. I actually bought the Game of the Year edition on Steam last Christmas, during the Steam sales. For all intents and purposes, I freakin' like the series.

HOWEVER, upon watching the entire thing over... I'm sorry, but it immediately looked like the exact same game as the first. I know they're on Pandora. I know they found the color green. Awesome, great job. However, I'm not really interested in playing the EXACT same game. I don't know, it's just the feel of the UI.

As for fantastic franchise... eh. Whilst I agree the game is fun, the multiplayer was ABYSMAL at best. Using Gamespy for online is like a death sentence walking out the gate. I honestly hope the 4 new classes are different enough this time around, as the game stagnated on the 2nd run through when you noticed all the characters did was the exact same thing: Shoot guns, albeit in slightly different ways.

@ShivanSwordsman i agree (down vote me all you want i don't care), the only thing that will make this sequel interesting is game mods and weapons mods, i enjoyed doing that in the 1st game.

I really don't think that is an accurate statement. I've watched the video twice now and only saw two reused enemies (psycho and a midget). I saw some other bandits, but they were new types. And the psycho was defiantly different in how it moved (staggered and strafed instead of dead ahead). Also, the robot enemies were interesting and offered new strategies and combinations.
As for weapons, all I saw were new, more distinct guns.
There is a much better pallet and the graphics looks improved.
On top of that, the mission was more interesting with many little scripted events, which makes it more exciting and less monotonous.

Given that and fixing many flaws and bugs, it seems like a great sequel.

I will say, however, that I was disappointed to only see one action skill per class and the skills look generally the same (although, they could just be placeholders.) There was one really interesting one that they skipped by quickly because it was marked "BROKEN": Green Flame. This skill made it so corrosion set enemies on first and they would run towards other enemies and set them on fire. That is a real skill, let's hope they fix that and get more like it.

Because he was the only character that had been revealed yet. This is the first glance and Maya, and you notice how they intentionally dodged talking about her at all or even showing her much? Borderlands 1 did the same thing, except the first guy they showed was Mordecai, who was far better looking than the Gunzerker. (already forgot his name)

@ShivanSwordsman To be honest, most sequels are like that. Otherwise it'd be a new IP. What I see here are new guns, new characters, new locations, same UI (there's nothing wrong with the old one), alternative strategies (new character builds = new ability uses), and another reason to play coop with friends. Sounds good to me.

Now I just need to track down this video again so I can show it to a friend/BL fanatic.

I loved the first game despite some of it's flaws, it made for a good old time with friends, so I'm already sold on this one. Anything they improve will be happily accepted. Just judging on the quality of the DLC missions improving as it went along, I have faith in this one being awesome.

As much as I LOVED the first game, I'm hoping this one has a few improvements:

More depth to the skill tree (my entire tree was basically filled with points lol)
Siren and SMGS not completely overpowered
More special powers
Customizable gear(helmets/armour)/gun add-ons.

Some kind of customizable gear and weapons would be very cool. Anything that lets the player further personalize his or her character is definitely a huge plus in any game.

Love it.

A few things though: It doesn't look awfully challenging. Like Borderlands 1, it appears to be somewhat easy. I was actually excited to see Salvador's health get low towards the end. Please fix the glitches that give people 1 shot insta kill, etc. Why anyone would even do this in an already easy game is completely stupid and beyond me. I would instantly boot these people from my game.

Gameplay is the exact same, which is basically okay. I would really like to see them revamp the arenas from B1, maybe add some kind of matchmaking feature. Maybe you could win money from arena matches. Arenas were definitely not used enough in the first one. You beat your friend twice and he doesn't want to spar anymore. Matchmaking in general could be improved as well.

Maybe even add a few mini-games? There is definite potential for some kind of racing mini-game with the vehicles.

Overall, very cool. Sucks it's such a long wait but I'll most definitely be pre-ordering this one.

Re: the challenge of the game, I realize it's an early level so it's probably not very hard intentionally (think I saw a level 14 on that 1st boss). Making enemies bullet sponges is a POOR way to increase the difficulty. I know, it must be difficult. But shooting a humanoid enemy in the head like 10+ times makes me cringe..

Just wish they saw fit to patch some of that convenience into the first borderlands before they launched it in the second.

Adding a minimap and or area loot pickup to the first game shouldn't be that hard.

regardless, seriously looking forward to Borderlands2

Yes, it's good :)

It's like a hybrid of so many other good games. The difficulty ramping of Diablo, the quest and loot system of WoW, and the post apocalyptic feel FPS feel of maybe Fallout. Oh, and thousands and thousands of randomly generated guns.
