The Japanese website for Ninja Gaiden 3 has emerged from the inky blackness of the internet, brandishing a finely honed blade and silently moving through the night, all the while tossing shurikens and newly forged screenshots into our cerebral cortexes.

My expectations were low when I saw the Steel on Bone moves in action, then they got lower when I saw enemies crawling away from Ryu, they finally dropped when I heard they got rid of all weapon types but the Katana.

@AriesWarlock haha my reaction time is no good i guess. even through it's easy difficulty setting, i beat first boss with 17 or so try and by pure luck, than got stuck dying over and over somewhere i don't remember and that's pretty much was the end of it.

WHOAH! They got rid of every weapon except the katana? Where did you read this?
If this is true, I may abandon all hope I've held out for this game and look elsewhere for my action genre needs. ...although, it's not like DmC is looking much better. :T What a crappy time to be an action genre fan.

"Will we see any new weapons in Ninja Gaiden 3?"
"This time we focused on the katana and what it’s like for players to cut through flesh and bone. As you proceed through the story, you will acquire different katanas."

I'm pretty sure they've announced that this game will feature more newbie-friendly difficulty levels.

Some BS about Ryu's murders and sins catching up to him. It glows a really bright, offensive red color when you chain kills and don't get hit, then you can press a button to release your UT. No sucking in orbs this time.

Cut me in half? Ryu can't even lop off a head in this game like he could back in 2004. I don't buy any of Hayashi's "know what it feels to cut someone" routine. He's censoring the game to pass every countries regulations, much like he did adding the purple mist in NGS2.
There hasn't been one thing outside of a Ryu only campaign (thank god, no forced Bimbo chapters) that has me the least bit interested in this game. R.I.P NG franchise as far as I'm concerned.

I really wish they had just paid Itagaki the money he wanted or was owed.
They've just torn NG apart.
slowing down the game play with those quick time events on normal enemies(it goes into slow-mo for a short time),taking out some of the weapons , no flying limbs and and god knows what else they've change.
NG was the best action game, now its dead to me, and Itagaki is off making a shooter.... I hope after the devil's third project he does an action game again.
Sigh....Guess there is the new DMC , darksiders 2, bayonetta 2 (please let this happen!!!) and others to look forward to.

It's hard for me to get excited about Ninja Gaiden after playing Bayonetta.

Yes. Bayonetta is VERY good. You can pick it up for $15-20 now, so there's no good reason not to enjoy this amazing action.

I know this will sound stupid, but NG has the makings for a great story and it doesn't capitalize on it... I really wish it did.

God, just looking at these screenshots alone kills my interest in the game.
They want to have us experience what it's like to "cut into a human body", but are too scared to include limbs being sliced off. They removed Old Man Muramasa, they're forcing us into a checkpoint save system instead of the free-to-use Dragon.
And apparently all Ryu gets is a sword...? Considering I loved the lunar staff in the other two games and used them the most, that's a big no-no for me.
Yosuke Hayashi doesn't have the balls to make a decent Gaiden game, so instead he's shitting all over Ninja Gaiden 3, probably hoping that he can work on something non-itagaki related without having to hear about "Why isn't this being made". Besides, if Metroid Other M is any indication, the combat is going to be shit.

What bothers me is that with the 100 million ps3&360 out there this game is sure to be a success, and that Yosuke Hayashi guy is going to think he made a good game...........

Hopefully it is more like the Xbox version and less like the hallway hack-n-slash game that Ninja Gaiden 2 was.

Frankly, now that Itagaki is gone, I'd almost prefer a complete reboot (from another team; maybe bringing back that 80's, cinematic vibe from the originals). So far, this just looks like a mess with no clear idea of what it wants to be. Not feelin' it.

I WANT to like this game, but I heard since their lead designer or something left, it's suffering. Some previews were calling it a quick-time-filled game, which is not at all consistent with the other Ninja Gaiden's. Hopefully the final product will be better.

This looks great! I'm gonna wait and buy this and Arkham City for the Wii U though just in case the other launch games don't stack up.

I really want this game to be good, but everything I've seen so far has left me ambivalent. I can't fault the reorganized Team Ninja for wanting to put their own spin on the franchise, but so far this game seems to be removing aspects of the previous games that worked just fine the way they were without offering anything genuinely exciting or new in return (just tired mechanics borrowed from other games). I hope the finished product exceeds everyone's expectations, but right now I need reason to believe.

I feel everyone's sentiment. I WANT this game to be good because I loved the first 2 game, but as everyone said, without Itagaki this game is just doomed, especially after reading everything revealed so far.
