few can claim to live a whole life doing what one loves. RIP. Guess I'll dig up all those mags.

What happened? He was too young to die.

So young, that's awful.

RIP.

At the very least, he leaves behind a good legacy. Not just in the form of his work but everyone he inspired to follow in his footsteps.

wow, 51, that's young...truthfully I wasn't even born when his writings were first published but from what I'm reading here and on the list of his works, this guy really did seem to be a pioneer. One less talented face in the gaming industry I guess :/

Wow. Sad. I have that issue and quite a few more from my childhood. I loved reading about video games when I was young and his is the mag that started it all. I eventually had a ten year career in game journalism and loved almost every minute of it. I had no idea we were so close in age. He was just a teen when he started that mag.

I still have that old Descent strategy guide he did. Back when guides were thick books and Babbage's had an actual bookshelf of them. I didn't even know about the remarkable breadth of his work in games until now. He deserves his status as a real legend in gaming journalism. RIP, sir.

I'll be honest. I never heard of this guy probably because I'm too young but I am interested in reading his work especially his work in pro wrestling. 51 is WAYYY too young. RIP Kunkel. You were a trailblazer amongst game journos

Worked for Happy Puppy for a little while, and so I suppose I owe a professional debt to some extent to him as well. RIP.

Very sad. I don't remember his stuff, but I was a huge fan of gaming magazines such as EGM, GamePro, Nintendo Power and Game Fan. I appreciate all who placed gaming on a higher pedestal than something many consider "toys."

@HaleyCharlene

Spamming........ obituaries? People always find a way to lower the bar.

(well not technically an obituary, but that's pretty damn disrespectful)
