Wow, it's already accumulated almost $19K right off the bat. I have to admit that I'm tempted for the $25 level, but to support something that sounds cool and get games from some rad developers.

Why does he need 50 thousand dollars for this? I still don't get it.

@BradT

He's launching a new business, which takes money. Also looks like he's trying to get enough to fund it for the first full year, give it time to build up a user base so it can survive on its own.

Isn't he getting more clout than he deserves? Bloggers are a dime a dozen, but since this guy is so niche he gets free 50 thousand dollars.

I'm sure JC Fletcher would love 50 thousand dollars to start his own blog.

People seem to be blinded by the free games and are throwing this guy their own hard earned money for nothing.

@BradT For one thing he's the chair of the IGF. For another that's not just 50k to just set up a blogger account, that's 50k to run a website full time.

And I'm the prince of Canada. What website needs 50K to run? You're paying for this guy's latte and rentcheck.

@BradT Word.

Is he going to have ads on this site? Why not just create a website and then put in work marketing it in order to generate a steady income based on actual content? Just saying "hey, pay my 50k/year salary please, for a job I'm creating for myself" comes across (to me!) as incredibly entitled and presumptuous behavior. Fluffing it out with whimsical language like "Every post should ideally feel like something beautiful and amazing set gently in your lap that you're now excited to have as a part of your world," doesn't quite mask the unabashed "gimme-gimme" nature of this exchange.

I think I officially hate kickstarter.

Why is everyone in this video rocking that stupid indie beard? Seriously. Everyone. The only guy without a beard looks like he desperately wants one.

Haha.

Beards are like the MySpace of facial hair. They were awesome up until the point everyone started doing it.
