DISAPPOINTMENTS:

-It's 3D graphics and RCT3 style
-There are no clear screens yet (just a magazine scan)
-This trailer isn't even a trailer
-A new RCT after all this time and it's not on the PC and it's in the least-appreciated style of all 3

NON-DISAPPOINTMENTS:

-RCT2 doesnt work for me on Windows 7 (not even the GOG version, not that GOG cares), so I need my fix
-Portable RCT
-A new RCT!

So far the disappointments are winning. :(

@FuzzyPierce I loved the first two rollercoaster tycoons myself. I was good at taking advantage of the sims in the game to milk a very large amount of money and I beat all the scenarios. I never got around to playing the third one.

RCT2 works fine for me in Windows 7. 32-bit and 64-bit. Are you sure you're not thinking of the original?

@TRONdll

The original works completely flawlessly on my Win 7 64 bit computer. Methinks it's just an issue with his computer.

@TRONdll Both of them do it. Both freeze completely (except music) after a random amount of time, completely locking up the computer. I am not the only one with this problem and I can ASSURE any dumbasses who want to claim otherwise that my computer is completely capable of playing the game.

You might try running it in administrator mode and/or one of the Windows compatibility modes.

I am a hundred percent sure it works on Windows 7 64-bit.

I know you need to patch RCT1 after installing it or else it will freeze. I'm not sure about RCT2, but I've been able to run RCT1 on a variety of computers using Windows 7 64-bit

This doesn't seem like it would make a good translation to a small screen. It does, however, make me want to go find an old PC version and play it again.

I didn't play many games in my early teen years because I spent too much time on the original RCT and its expansion packs. I have since played 2 and 3. Looking forward to this, but hoping they distil the best of the original. RCT3 was nice to be in 3D and have the new features, but felt to have also lost some of the charm of the original.

TL;DR - I'll not get my hopes up until I see some content.

I spent an unbelievable amount of hours on RTC and it's sequels and have been waiting YEARS for a new installment. I'm a bit disappointed that it is going to be on 3DS since I don't have one, but if this game is good that could change.

I think with all these new 3DS and Vita titles coming out it's time to maybe update the platform tags at the top of the page...

Rollercoaster tycoon on 3DS?

It's probably like playing Sid Meier's civilization on a blackberry

Some games just can't go portable

@Timjoy Civilization II on the N-Gage was one of the most competent ports of anything I have ever played, so you better eat these words. Countless hours were spent conquering the world. Shame that the hardware was so flawed.

I will have to buy this. There are no other good roller coaster games and I thought I was going to face a future of mediocrity having to settle for those. Sweet!

Dude I wish at Least RCT2 or 1 was on iPad or iTouch or iPhone, it would be an instant purchase for me, those games were awesome and mega addictive.

I think the biggest disappointment is just that it's not on PC. I'm not much of a PC gamer but any Tycoon games or RTS games (excluding Halo Wars) need to be played on a PC. At least it's on the 3DS which has a touch-screen but.... it's still not on PC.

Even worse, you can't obviously use any kind of mods, add-ons or expansion packs on the 3DS version. Those pretty much define PC games. That and superior graphics to consoles if your graphics card is good enough.

Still, I want to see how this turns out. I'm not that optimistic about it but it'd be nice if it turned out well, because that'd be another good third-part 3DS game, and I use "another" very loosely.

@TCJJ I'm pretty sure this is just a condensed port of rollercoaster tycoon 3.

I loved those games. Unfortunately, seeing as how Disney is shifting to mobile game development, I can't see that happening on anything other than iOS.

Mostly agree.
3 was nowhere near as good as 2, but 3 was still better than any other RC simulation game.

Chris Sawyer is the only man who can make good RC games.

I'm still waiting for a PROPER RCT4. YOU HEAR ME ATARI? I'M STILL WAITING.

It's too bad more games like this didn't make their way to the regular DS during its heyday. At least, not good ones. The two versions of SimCity were very bare bones, though Theme Park was a decent port.

Either way it's a new RCT, color me excited, I'll be picking it up for sure. I can see many hours being spent with it, as long as screen size doesn't become an issue. Heres hoping for no auto save though so we can randomly remove lines over water pits of our #1 ride. Muhuhahahaha!

I remember getting RCT1 with my gateway PC back in the day, initially I wasn't that interested in it and didn't play it for months, but boy, when I did give it a chance, it took my life by storm, it was like a drug, I needed more, and the news of RCT2 made me go into a furious frenzy and almost break through the window of the game shop on launch day....okay, exaggeration, but I loved RCT2 as much as the first.

RCT3 let me down :(

The first RCT was fun but thats it, its a one trick pony. After one hour you would pretty much have figured out how to play this game.

If they want this to be a blockbuster sell it for $10-20 dollars.
