That free game that Origin is offering for a Battlefield 3 pre-order? It's totally Dead Space 2! So now on top of early beta access and a host of DLC, EA is offering even more incentive by offering a great game.
Of course, there's a catch: there's only a limited number of copies of Dead Space 2 available. It's really silly, considering the free copy is a download. What's the matter, EA? No more storage space in the old digital warehouse?
If you want to go with Origin, you've got until September 19 to pre-order Battlefield 3 for your free ticket to the nightmarish space-romp.

@Assmar
Really? Essentials didn't do that for me. Origin will probably be like Games for Windows. Works fantastic for me but shitty for 90% for other people.

@Domino2097 Origin is AWESOME. You just type ANY retail cd-key and it downloads the game to your HDD. It does NOT need to be running in the background and installs the games completely DRM free. You can simply copy any origin installed game's folder to another computer and it will work!!

@ComedyInK no you can't. Steam has certain advantages, but can't run a steam game without the client running in the background with a active login even on offline mode.

@Slomoshun I preordered a month ago and haven't gotten anything about the free choice of games:
http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/15/pre-order-battlefield-3-on-origin-and-get-a-free-game/
But DS2 was what i was gonna pick anyway. However, I'm just paranoid enough to think that I have to re-preorder to get the free game.

Wait, why is this news? They ALREADY announced that Dead Space 2 was one of the games you could pick. You already pointed it out in the first posting.

@Rannxz I agree with your point, but MW2 came out *before* BC2 so including that makes no sense.

I didn't either, i Pre-ordered on the 10th of august before anything was announced.
All i did was go to origin click the help button (?) and then "Live help"
I told the guy (i was talking to a Brandon) that I had purchased BF3 and did not get my free game, I think linked him the games promotion website, and gave him my order #.
He added the game to my account, i hit the little gear thign on origin and selected "refresh my games" and Dead Space 2 was in my games.

sorry EA, you're gonna have to do a lot better than that.
they seem to be under the delusion that WE need THEM, which couldn't be further from the truth.
the last thing this industry needs is a publisher holding a single title hostage to force their agenda (Origin) onto customers who might otherwise never even think about signing up for. it's disgusting and says the world about EA and their respect for PC gamers.
bottom line: EA should be on their hands and knees begging customers to sign up, as they have not yet earned the right/established the credibility (like Steam has) to pull such an outrageous stunt.

err. what?
here's the deal. YOU want bf3 and a free game, downloaded at YOUR leisure. YOU need to buy from THEIR service. BUT, that's only if YOU want to buy THEIR games. NOBODY said YOU had to.
sidenote: haters gonna hate. you can't hardly blame a company for trying to make money, imo.

That established credibility steam has started with them forcing people to use steam if they wanted to continue playing counter strike. Don't just dismiss origin without even trying it, I HAVE used it, and although I won't be abandoning steam any time soon, I can say that origin is nothing but good hope for the industry. The more competition the better.

@carg0 I will never understand peoples hate and refusal buy a game just because they need to download a program that is not steam. I thought competition was a good thing?

Not when another service wants you to use THEIR service....and if it succeed then another one is going to appear, and another one, and another.....soon you are going to have 50 different services to buy games, and you´ll need all 50 of them if you want to play all your library... as i said before people NEVER see the big picture, i wish i could hear the comments of all the people that right now is saying: "cool!!! no problem" when they have to instal 50 different programs, they are going to be very happy.....sure......

I'd be a lot more interested in this if Origin didn't spy on me. I can live without BF3, but if ME3 requires Origin, I'll be downloading a crack for the first time in many years. I will never install Origin!

@2late2die It's EA's property, they can distribute it however they want, with how many copies they want for this promotion.
I don't like it either, but it definitely shouldn't be illegal.
