New Suikoden title coming to PSP
32
Konami announced a new Suikoden installment coming to PSP, Genso Suikoden: Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki, at Tokyo Game Show today. The new title has a website, trailer and Twitter account, one of which you can watch right here. You could watch the other two if you really wanted to, but we doubt they would have as many epic anime eyeball close-ups as the above trailer.
No word yet on pricing, gameplay, developer details or a release date, but that trailer should keep you occupied until more information emerges -- if it starts to get boring, make a game out of it. Every time a dramatically zoomed-in facial features fills the screen, take a shot of Sailor Jerry (or milk, as your age and country restrictions permit). The months will fly by.

Finally. Time to recruit the 108 stars of destiny again! I really wish they'd bring Suikoden 2 on the PSN as well!

That guy in the trailer looked like Flik...
I hope it is.

@Balthier he really does! if it's him, I hope it means Viktor is back too.

@Balthier Yeah it does kinda look like a younger version of Flik. Maybe it's a backstory of Suiko 1 and 2. I'd be ecstatic if it is

do they make even quality RPGs for the home consoles anymore? love the Suikoden series and wish it show up on PS3 or a new Valkyria Chronicles for that matter.
seems like so many RPGs go portable. traditional ones at least.

Only in Japan it seems and even then nothing too terribly interesting. Kind of like the last batch of random RPGs that came out on the PS2 at the end of its cycle. Good but not astounding.
But yeah, I'd like more RPGs on consoles again like the Golden Years, but I'm not going to complain about them being only on portables for the time being. Much better than nothing and even better than localizing in english but not releasing it in all english territories.

@Bryan H
It's a self-imposed thing, though.
I mean seriously, they just don't want to release them on Consoles. Despite FFXIII's problems/divisiveness it's still the best selling JRPGs and best selling Final Fantasy to date.
Final Fantasy was the reason why other RPG studios went full-fisted on the PS1/PS2 so what's stopping them now? Especially since most know their way around a PS3 for coding now.
It's not like a bunch of RPGs were sent to the USA on PS3 and failed. If they're basing it on the 360 success well those few games weren't exactly stellar and it's on a platform with a different demographic that's based more on sports/fps. But it also comes down to quality and those didn't match PS1/PS2 which were also more fresh at the time.
They're just not trying or caring.

@Mmmmz Honestly I think it's most production value. Even cell-shaded games like Tales cost millions to make in todays gaming world and people won't accept anything really less than that, and in standard graphics it has to look top notch or it will get scored lower. This all ups to a high price for a market that isn't 100% going to make it all back, especially not in the US where most people only care about shooters.

Yay, finally a new Suikoden!
Wait... PSP? GODDAMMIT. I want a proper game, preferably set in Harmonia finally. But no, this looks like we're going to get another Terkris, which sucked.

Damn HD development is killing J-RPGs on home consoles. Smart way to get me to buy a psp vita, touche

@Crayola Q Pants ESQ Not really. They still only said sony was looking into UMD compatibility. Unless this is going to be on PSN as well. They really need to switch to SD cards to get the sales up on the Vita....most my friends who were interested dropped it in the instant they said 4 GBs was 30 dollars.
