They sure released a lot of details about what is forthcoming! Maybe a spoiler alert next time?

I personally don't care, because I've somehow managed to never play WoW, though I've always wanted to. I find myself reading about it all the time.

Best polished MMORPG just got better.

Players fighting Deathwing while the beast flies over the world of Azeroth.

In all mmorpg's I played I was glued to the ground in a narrow tunnel vision with invisible walls everywhere.

Even more breath taking end like the Lich King I suppose

Yeah, there's not really much plot from WC3 that hasn't been dealt with at this point. Illidan and Arthas are both dead. You still have the Legion, but I wouldn't be surprised if that doesn't come up in an expansion very Soon (TM).

Oh WoW, it saddens me to think they're actually going to allow people to kill Deathwing. One of the beings in the top ten list of most powerful beings in the lore. What's going to be left after this? Go after Kil'jaeden proper and beat his face in and drink from his skull next expansion? Then after than go destroy Sargeras, a goddam former Titan?

Cataclysm should of been about Deathwing, sure. But not killing him. Azshara should of shown her face from the depths and would of made a much more fitting boss.

Eh, the writing was on the wall as soon as Illidan showed up. Start killing off primary characters from the lore and it'll keep going until Sargeras is on farm status.

@Jennacide It's a MMORPG, one that's pretty old at that. At this point not too many people care about lore.

@freaparn But really, what did anyone expect them to do? Just keep making up more lore so that they could stave off letting people finally take on the big baddies from the lore? I mean, I know that even from the beginning that not a ton of players (on non-RP servers) were THAT into the lore, but I think you risk alienating at least a decent bit of your core user base if you're always keeping them at arm's length from taking a stab at Illidan or Arthas, by having them beat nonames invented just for the "MMO version". That said, I played for a grand total of around 4 1/2, 5 years and had great fun for part of that time, but ultimately it was just a time/money hole that got repetitive and boring once I'd explored the new content and instances/raids became routine. I'm also dismayed that it kinda ruined me for other games for the most part (I read Joystiq everyday, but honestly I haven't turned on a console since May).

I'm just as happy about it, TBH. When they run out of actual villains, they tend to start getting the itch to turn former protagonists insane to justify using them as raid bosses.

You're not doing it alone, every other dragon aspect is helping out and Thrall blasts him with the Demon Soul
If you know your Warcraft lore that well you should know that this is hardly making the players look overpowered ;)

Just about fell over laughing. Looks like the RP before this boss fight is more like E RP...

I think Aguiluz, like me, wants a game that catches up on the story without requiring potentially hundreds of hours of involvement or desperate attempts to recruit people to explore outdated content.

I like WoW, don't get me wrong...

All of these epic characters in the lore are made to be killed. Thus far people have taken out 2 Old Gods, Arthas, Illidan, and some form of Kil'Jaeden. Deathwing is really no different.

We didn't kill the old gods, we merely poked their eyes - or maws, in case of Yogg - so they'd go back to sleep. The Titans themselves couldn't handle them, so they were imprisoned in the first place.

Given that old gods > Sargeras, they won't be killed anytime soon.

@Aguiluz Warcraft 4 was canceled due to lack of profit potential/turning a profit on a new intellectual property. Should we develop plans for a Warcraft 4 in the future, it will likely be about profits and treadmill leveling/gear searching, or consist of lots and lots of DLC.

They are using " a new engine to fight Deathwing in full flight all over the world".

I don't think they will leave it at that.

We will probably see all new world boss encounters with that new engine in the next expansion.

Blizzard is adding new mechanics. I pity the competition already.
