And then Gears of War 3 came along...

@Shadowbender

Gears is only on Xbox 360, it's not going to beat games that play on PS3 Xbox 360 and the PC, sorry just isn't going to happen.

I dunno, if Dead Island "shipped" 2 mil in 2 weeks, I can almost guarantee that Gears will do that this week alone. Then again, this is UK that we're talking about so it might get blindsided by Quiddich 2012 or some technically inferior dance game.

Did you see the games that were on top for last months npd charts? You might go back and take a look. It wasn't pretty.

@IQ Review According to VG charts, Gears 3 has about 2 million preorders in just the US alone.

I know you're joking but I figured if I reply to this some people who still try to use vgchartz as facts will read this.

"At the core of VGChartz is a team of analysts with over ten years of experience, who are commited to providing weekly estimates of current videogaming trends."

Right there on their own methodology page they clearly state that all their numbers are estimates.

Dead Island is such an awesome Zombie stomping good time. Too bad the Joysitq reviewer go this one wrong.

Joystiq wasn't much harsher than anyone else. It seems to be getting low B's to high C's across the board with most reviewers having similar issues.

I own and enjoy this game but i have to agree with most of the reviews including the Joystiq review.Just because this game belongs in the mid level of most scoring scales doesn't mean you cant enjoy it or that the reviews are wrong.

I haven't played the game, but I've watched tons of gameplay video cuz my friends keep wanting me to get it. I won't though cuz it looks boring as heck. (Disclaimer: not a big fan of zombie games to begin with.)

@FlashJS I rented it from Redbox and I had the kind of experience I'd expected to have with it. It's fun running around and going bananas on zombies, but I really am bored w/fetching things for people. I played it for a whole day and it was just kind of meh to me. I can see how some people enjoy it, but it's just not my cup of tea and I'm a huge zombie fan. I'd say at the very least give it a rental.

Though I'm sure I would have had more fun w/friends. My friends tend to go 360 or PC w/multiplatform releases though and I'm a PS3 player.

Suprised Space Marine didn't come out on top in UK - I'd have thought the Warhammer IP would have tipped it over the edge in its home country.

Nice to see Resistance 3 up there, it's an amazing game. Hope it keeps selling well, Insomniac deserves it.

@APCMice Hear hear, APCMice! I have no end of love for Insomniac. I'm seriously surprised to not see them on top—when I got my launchday purchase of 'WH40K Space Marine', I figured 'Resistance 3' was going to do fine without the immediate day1 sales love. Shocking to see otherwise.

FOR THE EMPEROR! (That game is *unbelievably* grand!)

"Deep Silver's two weeks of Dead Island sales have eclipsed the lifetime sales of any other title in the publisher's catalog."

Not surprised. Never even heard of them prior to this game.

Indeed. Though oddly they supposedly published sacred 2, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky in some places.

Good to see Dead Island doing well. The combat could use a lot of improving, but I love the atmosphere. I have to be very careful when I solo and never feel quite safe. Then someone jumps in you get to make a new friend :)

Nice to see Space Marine getting the love it deserves. Dead Island is alright but I just wasn't as thrilled with it as I'd hoped.

Well Resistence 3 is an exclsuive so the fact that it's in second is actually really good.

just bought dead island used with a coupon so it was $44 and it was the special edition so i got the 2 codes. they didnt use the weapon code but used the bloodbath code which if i remember correctly isnt out yet. so they shouldve just got the regular edition or not use the code at all since now they cant play it.

Dead Island is amazing.

The bug/glitches issue people bitch about, they neeed to stop. fallout 3/ new vegas was way glitchier at launch. In 12 hours in dead island, I hit some minor slow down in a fight or two. Fallout 3/new vegas within 12 hours I would hit a few crashes, a blitch that wouldnt let me finish, slow down, etc.

Its mediocre at best, and that's a result of lackluster gameplay, not bugs and glitches.

People seem to love or hate Dead Island. I'm going to have to pick it up on PC someday to find out. Just like Duke Nukem Forever, sitting at 48% meta. I'm playing it on PC and getting plenty of fun out of it. To each their own, I guess.
