It's called i heart radio, not I hate radio. Why would they have more acts from the worse genre in music?

It always feels like country music is copying whatever style rock had 10 years ago.

"Most genres evolved from country music"

You said it yourself. "EVOLVED". Not every rough draft of something is worth saving, if there is even ANY truth to that.

Second to worse.

natural progression:
first country music came about for those who can't sing very well
then rap came about for those who can't sing at all.

Music is all inclusive.

Can we play it in the background of games?

Oh, we can't?

Thanks for putting effort into something a majority of users will never touch. If only you would spend time improving your service instead of doing stuff like this. I mean, it's not like we've been asking for this for a long time or anything... Although, I guess asking my Xbox to do two things at once, God forbid, is a bit much. Even if it's just playing music.

***I own an Xbox, like Live, but I feel when a company invests time in something a good majority of it's users will never touch, then potential improvement of the main service is wasted.

What a pointless rant. It's an HD Video stream of the shows/concert, not just an audio feed. Why would you expect to have it play while you play a game?

Yeah, no, that's not the same at all.

You may as well be complaining that you can't have Netflix, Sky, ESPN3, or Zune videos play in the background; or Netflix, VUDU, MLB, NFL, iPlayer, or NHL videos play in the background on PS3.

It's annoying you can't do it with Last.fm or Qriosity, but to expect a one-time promotion of a live streaming HD concert ... there's no precedent for doing so to begin with.

@YimYimYimi - Those same people can make playlists of music on their computers or the music that's on their hard drive & listen to it in the background.

Expecting to be able to play video in the background while gaming is a little excessive, not to mention unnecessary since you wouldn't be watching it anyway.

Thank you for speaking up for the majority of Xbox users. It takes real guts to lead a rally of such great importance when so many from the majority would normally just stand by the wayside and allow themselves and their needs to be trampled in situations such as this. It's people like you who bring about true change and herald new and brighter days.

As someone who is clearly part of the minority though; I'm cool with streaming music from the large library of music I actually like on my PC while playing games. I also think this promotion is a pretty cool idea in general, even though I don't like every artist that will be playing & I would like to see them do things like this, such as adding live streams from gaming competitions or conventions as well as concerts etc, more often. I'll likely check this stream out a few times throughout the weekend just to see if I catch anything interesting, much like channel surfing. But I'm sure I am but one of very few in the minority.

Keep fighting the good fight, sir. You are a true hero.

Especially Clear Channel Radio. And I hate pretty much every single one of the "artists" listed. Good thing I have to work this weekend so I don't accidentally hear or see any of this.

Jane's Addiction is the only one I would be interested in. But I have to echo your comments on Clear Channel. They are a huge media conglomerate that has successfully choked out any and all competition and variety in their stations. I live in a radio-market crossover area and get 2 seperate Clear Channel stations, both located about 50 miles away. They are both classic rock and have the same playlist. I don't mean the same playlist as in the same general songs they play, I mean the EXACT same songs only about 2 minutes apart. I can tune to one station and know that when i tune to the other the same song will be playing or about to play.

By listening to this I Heart Radio crap you are supporting the death of variety on the radio.

Any musicians relying on the radio to get known are going to be SoL now-a-days anyways. With the internet the venue for music delivery is shifting heavily from radio to mp3s. Get your songs on iTunes and ppl can download straight to their phone which is with them 24/7, which radio just gets listened to in the car or at work. At work no one listens to new things, you just want something safe so HR doesn't get involved. So really limited to car again. So really radio may not be dead, it's definitely not the only or leading source of music these days.

It's even worse if you don't include subscription radio services like XM as radio.

You have a shit imagination then, or are way too narrow with your music tastes. Just because you like punk, hardcore, rap, hip hop, or "indie rock", doesn't mean you can't listen to pop as well. You're not restricted to a genre that "defines" you. Music is all music

Oh, but country doesn't pass your smell test? Please. I can find something that I like in all genres, but this is really the blandest of the bland and the worst of the worst.

At least we get some fun irony by having someone with the word "punkrawk" [sic] in their SN defending the Black Eyed Peas.

I don't think having an imagination has anything to do with musical taste. The only way that works is that I 'imagine' you have a taste for generic and uninspired music. No matter how you slice it, music is all a matter of perspective which is why there is so much different music out there. It would be great if actual talent was more of a focus in the music industry than the crap that is focused on (yeah, someone should assassinate the idiot that invented auto tune) but most people don't want that because most people aren't passionate about what they listen to. That's ok, I have my music and you have yours. I will go over here where I don't have to be subjected to it and listen to an intricate guitar solo intermixed with brilliant melodies and a fantastic drum line and you can stay over there and get your 3 minute sugar fix filled with the same single ingredient.

Actually I grew up through Bad Religion, Pennywise, Millencolin, Link 80, Sick of It All, Minor Threat, Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Descendants, etc.

And sorry, this name is about 10 years old now. Heaven forbid that I keep the name even though my musical interests change. Besides, punk is doing what you want regardless of others, not opposing whats popular just for the sake of attention. that's being a lame ass. So if anything it'd be more in character to listen to what I want and tell you to go shove a soup can up your ass.

When you get right down to it, all this is is Clear Channel stroking their corporate ego. All those artists have most likely agreed to perform either for free or at a reduced fee in exchange for increased airplay on Clear Channel radio stations.

Two years ago, Clear Channel stations ran a constant barrage of ads decrying "the death of variety and free radio" because artists were going to start charging more royalties for their music. Clear Channel said it would result in fewer artists and songs being played over the air. The idea that Clear Channel would complain the it's the ARTISTS causing the lack of variety when it's their own corporate greed causing it is crazy.

By watching this webcast, going to the show or downloading their I Heart Radio app you are supporting corporate greed and fewer and fewer artists on the radio.

While there's no way in hell I would waste my time watching these acts perform (minus a couple), this is still a great promotion. I would love to be able to watch live any number of other GOOD festivals in this manner. Props to MS for doing something pretty cool; hopefully next time it will be music that matters.
