But would someone on a console be able to play with someone on a pc? Would I be able to use my same account/characters on both versions? If I can then Blizzard probably just sold me 2 copies of the same exact game.

Possibly on the PS3 version, with Portal 2's Steamworks integration being the precedent.

Doubtful on 360.

They were looking for PS3 programmers. If they add Steamworks and keyboard & mouse support like Counter Strike: Global Strike on PS3, then it's a no brainer.

@Ballistic H right now it's about physics and graphics power. The minimum specs for the beta are actually higher than the recommended specs for Crysis 1. This interview is also pretty old so I'm surprised to see JS posted it just today.....

Steamworks? For a Blizzard game? Never going to happen.

Blizzard and Valve aren't hostile to one another, but they do have competing services. Blizzard sells their own games online. You will notice there are NO Blizzard games on Steam.

Steamworks = Valve games only. No other developer is going to use it.

@Drakkenfyre All Bethesda games are now Stemworks, including previous releases. Although for older games like Oblivion and Morrowind, you have to buy the game from Steam to get Steamworks features. THQ is also fully onboard using Steamworks in all their games now.

2K Games and Square Enix are also slowly introducing Steamworks to their newer games.

I don't see how they couldn't do it with the 360. Didn't Shadowrun allow for cross platform gaming? Diablo might actually work better than an FPS as a cross platform game.

I hope Blizzard makes its console comeback with this game.

it's been like 13 years sense they released a game on the consoles.

The Lost Vikings (snes, 1997)
Blackthorne (snes, 1995)
Justice League Task Force (snes, 1995)

They released The Lost Vikings and Blackthorne for GBA a few years ago.

And StarCraft: Ghost was not, NOT a Blizzard title. It was started with the ASSISTANCE of Blizzard, but it wasn't until later in the game's life did Blizzard buy the developer, and eventually can it.

Consoles don't deserve Diablo.

Just like PC's don't deserve Gears of War, Resistance or Killzone. Even though they would look and play better on the PC.

They're talking about pad support on PC...why do you think they're making the game have pad support? Because they plan on testing it on PC for consoles...

Well, when games start running like total s h i t on your console because of PC's maybe you'll know how most of us PC gamers feel. We're sick of developers holding the console kid's hand across the street just because they're easier to sell to.

Oh, btw..anybody with half a brain could build a PC for less than $1000 and it could run any game out on max settings.

That's an embarassingly simple take on why things are the way they are.

If the PC was a strong enough platform to carry developers on its own, there would be tons of PC exclusive games that take advantage of the hardware. You sunk 1k into your rig, and now you're upset that most of the games you play are ports designed for a system with 512MB of RAM. When the next generation of consoles is released, game engines will leap with them, and so will PC gaming. It's the way it's been for a very long time.

Oh, and before you go on some weird attack directed at me, I have a pretty decent PC myself. The difference is, I don't have some sort of bizarre misplaced allegiance to it, and play only about 50% of my games on it.

For someone throwing around words like "kid" and "pumpkn," your attitude sure is childish.

I spent about $600 on my PC, and it can run most games on max settings. Considering that I can also use it for work and web browsing, and that PC games tend to be cheaper than console games (if not free), I'd say I got a better deal than most console gamers.

@rullers I thought a moron was someone who worries about what other people spend on products...

To many variables to figure in, on why people do what they do.

You work for minimum wage and are tight on money (or just a tightwad) anyways you have the time & knowledge to build a '$2,000' PC for $350 bux - Someone else has minimum wage job (or better) and has the money to dump on a PC made by Dell because they don't even want to bother building, it's 2,000 bux now and probably another 2,000 bux in 4-8 years depending on the person.

2,000 dollars on a PC is still a good investment for most people. People who build a PC for 2,000+ chase the bleeding edge, also not a good investment on never ending advancement in technology.

Just because you are a cheap ass, don't label people 'morons'.

"Of course it runs games better and at higher resolutions. You've sunk $2000 into it."

If I used my PC *only* for videogames, it would be an exercise in excess and I would gladly welcome criticisms when it came to my expensive toy in the same way average people criticize an auto enthusiast; a Ferrari 458 Italia might get you to your destination quicker with better handling and significantly better style than a Chevy Cobalt, but it's still a car at the end of the day.

I, however, use my PC for more than just videogame, as do most other people. I use it for 3D modelling and digital sculpting. I might not be any good at either, but the fact I am able to do something recreationally in a medium unaffected by the lack of deft fingers has made my machine worth every penny. Being able to play the latest games maxed out is just a bonus.
