Play Uncharted 3 at an AMC theatre, get an early copy
42
Live in San Francisco, Dallas, New York, Los Angeles or Washington DC? Want a chance to play and (own) Uncharted 3 nearly two weeks early? If so, you might be interested in an upcoming event at your local AMC Theatre.
From October 18 through 20, AMC theatres in the five cities listed above will be hosting a special event, during which fans will get a chance to play Uncharted 3 in 3D on the big screen. General admission is $25, but those who spend $60 on the "premium pass" will also get an early copy of the game.
There is a catch, however, namely that said early copy will be "shipped to customer on 10/25/11." In other words, no one leaves the event with a physical copy in their hot little hands and there's really no guarantee the game will actually arrive early. But hey, it's probably the only chance you'll have to see Nathan Drake on the silver screen for quite some time.
Head to the AMC website for more details.

Sorry, well I guess I am they lucky guy then, Santa Monica is only 5 min from me, will have to make a trip over there after dinner and get my pass.
Too bad I can't buy it on-line, it would be so much more convenient.

Good thing I live in NYC, oh but I am at school in Maryland =[
I wouldn't do this anyway because I want the game to be fresh and awesome when I play it and I plan on buying the super awesome edition and that's more than 60 dollars.
But this is pretty cool for people interested.

I'm on the eastern shore and went over to DC today... it really is a pain in the ass. But it is within reasonable driving distance.
For some reason I didn't see the second half of your post earlier, but I'm in the same boat as you. I could get to this, but I want the CE of Uncharted 3 so it'd be a big waste of money.

i just moved across the bay bridge from the eastern shore but i just don't know if i want to test DC even though it's only like a half hour away. especially if i'm not even walking out the door with the game. just doesn't seem worth it despite how much i want it.

I'm glad they're coming out to DC, but $25? Guaranteed, it's on a big screen, but how long of a chance are you going to have to play it?

I'm in LA and i'm sure i wouldn't be the only nerd showing up. I sure hope it's at least 15 minutes. While we're not playing, can we still sit in the theater with glasses and watch?

@Once known as Shadsy I think the best deal would be the $60 pass. You get to attend, maybe snag some awesome swag, and get the game in the mail early. I mean, you'll be dropping $60 dollars for the game anyways right? The event is a very, very nice bonus. Too bad getting to this event is a challenge for a lot of people.

Not really worth it even though I live close enough to the DC one. I've already preordered and paid in full. If I actually got to walk out with a copy, then yes, I'd do it. Not even worth the $25 to "play" it when it's probably going to be pretty full and my time with it would be limited. Shame...

Can somebody, for once give something like this to the 95% of the population who never get this stuff? Contrary to popular belief, there are more than five cities in the US. It seams Google is the only company to have done this.

Sure, why don't you explain to us how that will be logistically feasible and maybe break even?

I don't mean go to every city, I mean go to another city besides the ones that the universe appears to revolve around.

Yes they do, as does every company, but it wouldn't kill them to go outside these five cities once in a while. Why should 5% of the population get 99% of all events. Equipping an AMC with a PS3 isn't exactly millions of dollars here. Nintendo has been to far more cities with the 3DS and they didn't go bankrupt because they committed the apparently economic suicide act of going to a city with less than a million people. Plus population doesn't always count either. Chicago has a higher population and Density than D.C. and Dallas, yet you never hear of events like this in Chicago.

Exactly.
And even if San Jose is a 2nd hand city compared to SF, I'm willing to bet that at least 70% of the fans who buy Naughty Dog's games and everybody else's actually come from this area as opposed to up north.

I'd rather stay home, wait a week for Uncharted 3, and put $60 to another game.

That is a brilliant promotion. If it were anywhere near me, I think I would drop the $60 for the premium pass to go.

Still no love for San Jose...damn...it's kind of painful driving up to SF for 1 hr just to get there and then spend another 20 minutes looking for parking.

@kentuckyfried The largest parking structure in SF is right across the street from those theaters. I can't imagine it would be full.

So how do I get a ticket? I have to drive to the theater and buy it in person?
I can't find a link to buy it over the net.

i called the LA theater and they said there was an issue with online ticket purchases. it should be going live tonight at some point (according to some random associate)
i'd take it with a grain of salt but i've been reloading the site every 10-15 min. this is something i would love to attend.

I am in Washington state there is two Regal Cinemas near me but, no AMC theater and to me it isn't worth going all the way too San Francisco or Los Angeles just to get the game maybe 1 week early if you leave close to one then it may be worth it.

suckers. pay $25 to wait in line to play it with no obvious guarantee of playtime.

Small tip - Tysons Corner is in VA, not DC. It's like saying there's something in NY but the address is in Jersey.
