@DarkNightRJ Sadly, that is really just about the only good thing about the game right now. That, and the visual design.

@laser beams I was disappointed by the demo. The graphics were great, but I thought the gameplay was pretty lacking. That'd be fine if it had a good story to help, but I hear it's pretty nonsensical.

@laser beams The demo really turned me off unfortunately, I may bite when it hits $30, but it will have to contend with Catherine most likely.

I felt the same way. I liked the idea of the game, and the idea of the varied gameplay, but it just seemed too disjointed, going from 3rd person to side scrolling. Also, hated the jumping cuz I could never judge where I'd land and kept falling into holes/pits.

@FlashJS

i couldn't tell where the ground was. i saw a trailer for it and thought 'this looks amazing! i have to try it' but i wasn't really all that impressed. don't get me wrong, it looks like a beautiful game and a nice change of pace to most games coming out now but it just didn't 'grab' me. $37 is tempting but i think it needs to be lower than that for me to bite. i'll wait until it's like $20, then there is little risk if i don't like it.

This is constantly in my mind. Its why I feel like a huge sucker if I spend 60 dollars on week 1, knowing I can save up to 50 percent just by waiting a few months. I bet there will be an even bigger discount before the year is over.

@HighFiveJesus

It's a bit hard to resist the urge to go week 1 in order to accumulate enough time to stagger purchases. But well worth it once everything ends up being $40 right off the shelf.

@HighFiveJesus At the same time, I don't mind paying full price for a game I really want to support the devs. Few regrets either way.

@Epoque

Yeah, I'll only do a day-1 if it's something I NEED to play or something with multiplayer where I know I'll be left behind if I don't start right away. Otherwise, there's too many good deals out there on older stuff.

Guys, I hated the demo too; however, I received the full game as a gift, and I LOVE it. Even the chapter you play in the demo is way better.

I want to get this but I know it'll be $19 when the holidays come around

I picked up Deus Ex when it was $35 and I just can't get into it.

El Shaddai is the perfect example of why there needs to be tiered pricing in games. I'm not sure what criteria works best but there is no way a game like El Shaddai demands the same price tag as Battlefield 3, Arkham City, Assassin's Creed, etc. It actually hurts it's sales being at $60, although I bet the feeling is they will come across as being a poor game at a lower price.

Perhaps AAA titles (which refers to the games budget) should only be $60 with everything else being $40. Whatever. There just needs to be pricing tier in place to accommodate for different budget games. So when the next quirky game comes along more people will be willing to buy into it.

@ManisObsolete I agree especially if the game only offers a less than 10 hour campaign. The only games this year that I will gladly pay $60 bucks for are Rage, Battlefield, Uncharted 3 and Skyrim.

El Shaddai is a rental for me most likely. I don't see going back and replaying stages after I finish, but that's based on the demo - which I found to be underwhelming. A 20-ish hr game with no real replay value is almost always a rent for me.

Deus Excellent was worth every penny.

Yep, in no time they will be $20, the price point all video games should be. And then I'll pick them up.

Played the El Shaddai demo. It's an unexceptional 3D action game IMO, if you like God of War and falling off cliffs, you'll like it. The background art is amazing, but the sprites look crude by comparison, they're jaggy little eyesores running around in a beautiful moving work of art.
