@Sc4rfac3 - Pretty much my reaction, but here's my problem:

"The movie will reportedly feature a more "realistic" version of the Mortal Kombat characters"

Does this mean a more of the "Rebirth" type characters (Baraka is a former plastic surgeon) or more of the "Legacy" type characters (Baraka is a ogre-reject from the world of Tolkien)?

Give me more Rebirth characters. I'd love to see how Sub-Zero would exist and see how Jaxx gets his bionic arms in this world (Deus Ex, anyone?).

@cnorw00d

A few of the eps definetly were, with the highlight for me being Johnny Cage's episode (#3 I think). But some were downright terrible like Mileena/Kitana....I hope they stick with the more realistic feel of the Cage, Jax/Sonya eps, etc. Or at least make the fantasy grimey rather than campy like the Raiden ep.

@Mrguy you know that guy It was kind of all over the place. Started off pretty good, then went all over the place. Scorpion and Sub-zero's story was okay. The cyborgs and Milleena and Kitana's story were god awful.

I like Jeri Ryan, but don't bring her back as Sonya Blade. Maybe as Sonya's milfy sister Tanya Blade.

There were a lot of critics for his webpisodes. I hope he read the reviews and takes the good with the bad. There was a lot of good with his series but also a lot of bad, if he takes out the bad and figures out how to balance the context (a lot of it was unveven) it could shape up to be a good movie. I still am a fan of the first movie, it still holds up though cheesy at times, but the 2nd was just god-awful. I hope he takes his time with the script. A lof of the uneven context came from making some things very realistic and others supernatural which made the teeter-tooter uneven. I am for this upcoming movie but I just hope, for once, the director learns from the critics/reviews and makes a very good movie. I am fine with the movie being another "video-game-movie-tournament" like most fighting movies but he has stated, in the past, how passionate he was for the webisodes so I hope he definitely listens and learns patience. And one last thing....do not throw a lot of characters in the movie. This franchise is meant for sequels so do not throw more than you can handle it. Hate to bring it up buy Nolan has done a fine job of adding a lot of characters in and balancing them the right way. "The Dark Knight Returns" has a lot mroe charaters than his past movies but I feel he will do no wrong. I still regard MK1 as being the best videogame-movie adaptation, it has flaws, but the look of the movie, the context, and everything else fit just perfect, even though it was chees at times (no more MORTAL KOMBAT fight music! just make a score, a la Reznor). I do hoe he succeeds.

So the new movie series will be a reboot of the last series, which had nothing to do with the last game, which itself was a reboot?

My head is spinning.

I enjoyed the Rebirth short more than the Legacy web series, so I hope he goes more that route. I also hope it is a brutal R rated film. If it's PG-13, don't even bother....

@GlockXIII Funny you should say that... It was my favorite of the webisodes. I agree with Kevin that it was the right blend of fantasy and reality. I do wish that Raiden had been able to break out by channeling power from an electric socket or something, but I really enjoyed it.

The first MK movie was good. The second one was not so good.

The first thing that went wrong with the second one was that Raiden was portrayed as being a weak god (which is why the person who played Raiden in the first movie refused to do the second one because of that). The second thing that went wrong was that they had every chara in the game, where most of them were on the screen for about 10 secs and then they were dead.

If a new movie is made it needs to be by a new producer not the same one who did the old movies. This new movie also needs to be just as great as the new current gen game of MK that came out.

So glad they're doing this!! I think the director Kevin T had the perfect angle with the self-made self-funded short. I am completely convinced that the big-wigs at WB stuck their filthy hands and crappy ideas into some the productions. The proof for this was in the raiden episode. He put a disclaimer at the beginning of the 'sode saying 'this is my idea' and it was clearly the best of the series. He didn't put that on any of the other episodes. PLEASE NEW LINE CINEMA LET KEVIN DO HIS THING!!! THATS WHAT WE WANT!!

Boooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Realistic Mortal Kombat... How does anyone think that's a good idea? People actually liked body-mod-freak Baraka? No one was concerned that the implants under his skin appeared to be causing him no trouble while getting punched and kicked? I'm the only one who was surprised that he wasn't dead from graft rejection long before he fought a professional martial artist?

This is a game about an inter-dimensional fighting tournament. The most famous characters shoot roped spears and balls of ice from their hands. You can't make these things realistic without making them far less plausible. This movie is going to be an uroboros of suck.

Well, considering both the short and the mini-series sucked ass, I don't really have high hopes for this.

The short mutilated the MK lore, and the mini-series proved to be low-budget, poorly written crap in line with some high-end fan fic.

Unless they can do better than the first MK film (not great but the best attempt at game to movie adaptation yet), they might as well leave it alone and let us just play through the game's story mode. Would save everyone a lot of money and grief.

I hope it's more like Rebirth than Legacy. We really don't need the same MK lore being retold again.
