Just about every retailer on the planet agrees: the future is a lot closer than you may think! And here we were waiting for 30 Helens to agree this whole time ...
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is apparently slated for launch on March 6, according to listings on Gamefly, Amazon, Target, GameStop, Wal-Mart and Best Buy. While we'd never consider a retailer listing as fact (most of the time they're placeholders), the proliferation of identical is pretty compelling. And as of right now, all we really know is it'll launch at least after the planned January 2012 beta.
We've reached out to Ubisoft for comment and will let you know what we hear back. Update: We were able to confirm the launch date with Ubisoft. Look for Ghost Recon: Future Soldier on March 6, 2012!

It's been on my radar for a long time. I've been getting tired of FPS's. This and Gears 3 will be my bread and butter for a while in terms of shooters. I don't get the hate for the E3 2011 demo. I even liked the gunsmith demo which is saying something since they were using Kinect for it.

I doubt very much that this is how you will be making your income. That is what "my bread and butter" refers.

I got to play this a few weeks ago and I'll say I'm a little meh in general.
Too much of the core Ghost Recon mechanics have been changed that you wouldn't be able to tell that this is a Ghost Recon game, unless you read the title somewhere.
It is more of an arcade shooter in third person instead of the tactical "realistic" first person shooter. I'll just call it Future Solider.

@xiLeShadow So is the PC ver. still set on?
Maybe this means that they will be keeping the PC version into the Ghost Recon roots like they have done before and change the console versions in their arcade shooter subgenre.
Maybe they ditched the PC version in general though. Wouldn't be surprised as its Ubisoft.

Well I'm going to be looking for another TPS when I'm done with Gears 3 & Uncharted 3. So I might as well pick this up.

Please change the blog pic, the new Future Soldier looks way different than the 2010 version and I feel is false advertising since the 2010 version was badass in every way.

The E3 2010 Demo blew me away.
The E3 2011 Demo..less so.
But a March 6, 2012 slides it's status down to "maybe when the price drops" cus Mass Effect 3 is WAY more important!

Call me antiquated, but I really miss the first two GR games where it was a lot more patience, precision, and planning and less over-baked action. Even if it looked horrible, I loved how it played.
But it seems no one likes to make (or buy--what a vicious circle) such cerebral games anymore. Even R6 has been "made sexier" with dramatic action. I remember when that was a much more deliberate game.
Oh well, it's not like I'll be starving for something to do. Between SWTOR launching in December (here, just take the next 5 years of my life now) and ME3, I'll have more than enough to do.
