To be honest, I'm not really a CoD fan, but I really wish more games would try and shove more stuff into it from other popular franchises. They may be copies, but why is that such a bad thing? I wish there was a horde mode I could play with my friends in Killzone 3. Difficult co-op survival is lots of fun, and needs to be in any popular shooter in my opinion.

Had a chance to play this at Eurogamer and got to round 10, felt like MW2.5.

@seven786 all of the mw3 stuff i've seen has looked like mw2.5 to me. i've thoroughly enjoyed the modern warfare games, but i don't plan on picking this one up. i'll have to wait and see if the multiplayer has been revamped enough. the new mode is a nice addition though.

@Kilizon32 I understand what you're trying to say, bot you're a little bit off. COD4 is MW, without zombies or horde-mode. Zombies first appered in COD 5 (World at War) and COD 6 ( Black Ops). You might be right because I haven't played the PC version.

I see they took the Arcadiness and cranked it up to 100. What authenticity the franchise once had went out the window after CoD4. The shotgun might as well be fully automatic. It's operated by the worlds fastest reloader and shooter. A big cup of lame.

Stay classy Joystiq...keeping pimping the Modern Warfare.

I don't understand do you want every military shooter to be exactly the same? CoD is arcade-y. that's the appeal.

Ohh, you want a panicked soldier who sometimes drops shells (ammo) while reloading in a fire fight... Just like I mentioned below about gaming gun physics, what do YOU want. /rollseyes

Yeh the reloading isn't an issue at all. The real problem is when you can pull the matrix and completely move out of the way of a shotgun blast at near point blank range @0:26-0:36

Just an opinion, but I think this mode could be a hell of a lot better if treyarch were developing it, with all the experience they got from the zombies mode and all...

I loved Zombies. I love Horde. But I don't love shotguns that can insta-kill from 50 feet away.

You are probably one of those guys that sit in your basement all day and you've never gone outside and shot a real gun. Shoutguns can tear a large metal can up from 50 feet away, and the guy in the video was killing people from 10-15 feet away. It might just be me but this sounds like a reasonable distance for a military grade shotgun.

But he doesn't like that they do, and there's nothing wrong with that. Realism in games is just a preference and has nothing to do with good game design.

What is wrong is wondering why its okay for people to like different things. Now, wondering the reason why someone likes something, that's different of course.

except, you know, shotgun buck does go like past 50 feet right in real life. People hunt ducks/geese with shotguns if you don't know, it is realistic to have them have a long range.

Gotta agree with @eat it on this one... Put it to the test. I have a shotty, you stand 20 feet away from me, I'll load my 12-gauge with some 1325fps shells, and we'll see who's standing after I pull the trigger.

*disclaimer* I would never shoot you. I love you.

Yes, but you are playing a game with smaller maps, where is the Balance in that when a shotgun can kill you in one shot for a further distance/

Realism =/= Fun, I though we were clear on that.

Yeah...this looks fun but they need to just make one disc and keep making DLC. The entire MW3 could be DLC for like $19.99. I dont see how people get so hype to pay for a slight change!??

Yeah, I wish people would stop having arguments on which game is better. In the end both games are probably gonna end up being great

Why can't we all get along? Gamers should be rejoicing that EA/Activision are in competition with each other since we win in the end with better games.

and i know about shotguns in real life and what they can do, i'm talking about in-game stuff and how this seems a bit overpowered, but who knows, maybe that is the best shotgun in the game and maybe the damage is different in spec ops as opposed to TDM.

Maybe they're shooting only slugs in vital points? And I don't know... a 12-gauge shotty from 10 yards would rip most of your torso up.... with a kevlar vest, maybe not, but you'd probably not want to move much, none the less.

Plus, all game guns are overpowered and over accurate - it's a fact of life. If I pull the left trigger, bam - sight stays perfectly still... just like my hands do when I hold a gun to my face for 10 minutes. No movement.

Slugs=one large projectile, whereas regular shot would spread, which is what the animation is showing in the vid, which I am sure you understand. The 100ft away damage is probably just because maybe the lower level waves have less health?

The gaming world has guns and gun physics completely in the shitter. From people thinking shotguns are only lethal at "close" range, to suppressors making bullets hit as hard as a roll of toilet paper.

what exists in real life usually doesn't work very well in video games. the game companies are more concerned (thankfully) with making a good, balanced game, instead of making the weapons work exactly the same as their real-life counterparts.

I'm definitely not "thankful" for that. (balancing that is)

Personally I'd rather see 5.56 rounds and 7.62 rounds, etc do the same damage. But according to developers, different guns, firing the same round, do different damage. In my opinion the only stats that should change between firearms of the same caliber should be recoil and firing rates. Otherwise the whole "balancing" visage is a sham.

Developers want a realistic game, going the distance with sound mechanics and animation, but lack the actuality that firearms are many in the same in "damage".
